Scriptures: Galatians 3.
For a while now it has become evident that large sections of the church have retreated from the grace of Jesus Christ back into the keeping of Jewish laws. Paul said of the Galatians who did this that they were very foolish because the law saves nobody.
The law of Moses written on stone was given to reveal and condemn sin. Jesus came to bring mercy, forgiveness and grace which is righteousness before God. Jesus was the only Man who fulfilled the whole Law and declared It is Finished just before He died.
Satan has no power over Christians who walk in the Spirit of God free of condemnation. He has power over those who see themselves condemned by the law and is only too happy to keep them that way. Christians who have gone back under the law are no longer Christians. Neither are they Jews. They belong nowhere in God's kingdom being religious Pharisees and the blind leading the blind. One man I knew who was a strong Christian and then turned to being under the law even rewrote the New Testament leaving out everything Paul wrote and called Paul a false apostle!
He told me that God had given him a higher revelation that I was not yet "cleared to receive!" I don't know which god revealed such rubbish to him as my Father in Heaven could not give out such lies.
The Ten Commandments were of the Law which brought death. The law reveals sin and the wages of sin is death. On the day of Pentecost when Moses came down the mountain 3000 people died after building a Golden calf. When the Holy Spirit was sent on the church on the day of Pentecost after the ascension of Jesus, 3000 people were saved and given eternal life.
So those of you who are now Keeping the Sabbath Day as the Jews were commanded to do, you have returned to the pre-Christian Old Covenant and rejected salvation through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ. You have abandoned your faith for laws that no longer hold validity. You have returned to condemnation instead of freedom.
During the Last Supper Jesus said this is the New Covenant in My Blood. In Jeremiah 31v31 God says I will make a New Covenant with the House of Israel. This Covenant is of forgiveness of sin, repentance, water baptism, salvation by grace.
If you choose to keep the Law you have to keep all 665 laws for if you break one law you are guilty of breaking all of them in God's eyes. The punishment is death. Why do you want to go back down a road that did not succeed?
Before its too late ask Jesus to open your eyes to the truth and throw off the yoke of bondage to archaic laws to believe in the freedom and victory Jesus purchased for us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father You have given us the free gift of salvation through grace - the unmerited favour of God. Let us not neglect this precious gift but treasure it with a grateful heart throughout eternity. In Jesus' name. Amen.
