The Splendour of God's Chosen

Scripture: Romans 11 v 12:  "Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them be the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fullness?"

Paul was writing a letter to the Christians in Rome who knew very little about the people of Israel 2000 years ago. Rome dominated and controlled the Jews but this was far away from them.

Paul was explaining that the Jews had to fall and be diminished as part of God's plan of grace to the Gentiles and sinners of the world. He had spent thousands of years bringing the Jews the Law, the promises, the prophets and His covenant with them; finally giving them His Son, Jesus, whom they crucified and declared: His blood be upon us and upon our children.

They cursed themselves with the Blood of the Lamb whereas it brings life and salvation to the Gentiles and sinners. Their loss was our gain. We have the treasure of spiritual experience and blessing. We have the power of the Holy Spirit, miracles, healings, gifts, fruits and every good thing from Heaven.

Paul wanted to convey that if in their diminished and fallen state we were so splendidly enriched how much more enriched would we be when Israel blossomed fully again when she receives the promised salvation.

We need to pray for the Jews, the chosen of God, to come into their full spiritual heritage because it will overflow onto us in great abundance.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we stand in awe and sing Halleluia our God reigns forever. Your wisdom exceeds man's wisdom to have such a glorious plan. We pray for Israel to come into their fullness and enter in to the glory of Your kingdom so that we may receive the overflow and spiritual abundance You have promised. In Jesus' name. Amen.
