Move That Mountain!

Scripture: Mark 11 v 21 - 33; Matthew 8 v 5 - 13 Verse 23: "For verily I say unto you, that whosover shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he sayeth shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he sayeth."

In the Great Commission at the end of the book of Matthew, Jesus acknowledges that all authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Him. He then tells His disciples to take that authority and teach others about Him. They must use His authority as a power of attorney to get things done in His absence.

Jesus showed His disciples in Mark 11 how the fig tree withered at His command. He then told them to speak to the mountain and command it to be thrown into the sea. If you have even a tiny amount of faith it will obey you.

What mountains are blocking your progress? Perhaps a mountain of debt is at your door. In the Lord's Prayer the words sin and debt are interchangeable. What sin has opened the debt monster's mouth to spue out problems? Deal with that sin, as sin in your life robs you of spiritual authority. When you are back in harmony with the Lord you will have the confidence and authority to command that mountain of debt (or whatever else it may be) to be thrown into the sea.

I was in this very situation 20 years ago and I followed God's instructions and He removed every mountain - some fast, some slowly - but within two years I was completely free of mountains. Jesus flattened them in the strangest of ways and led me into a completely new kind of financial, spiritual, emotional, mental security with Him.

The healing of the centurion's servant in Mathew 8 showed what Jesus called very great faith. When Jesus said he would come and heal the man, the centurion said that He should not enter his unworthy dwelling but just speak forth His commands.

Because he was a man under authority he knew that Jesus had full authority over everything. The centurion understood divine authority very clearly. Just say the word, Jesus, everything must obey You.  Jesus marvelled at him and said "I have not seen such great faith!" Jesus spoke and the man was healed the same hour.

I saw this in action a few years ago. Annie is a coloured lady who asked if she could work in my home to earn some extra money. She was visiting from a town about 200km away.  While she was ironing some sheets she felt ill with high blood pressure. I asked to pray for her and as I put my hands on her head we both felt the power of God go through her like a bolt of electricity. She was instantly healed.

A few minutes later there was a phone call from her children in her home town. They were very excited. They told their mother, "Jesus is here in our house talking to us!". Annie was overwhelmed and soon put down the phone.

As she was leaving she asked if I could pray for her son and daughter-in-law, who were dying of HIV/AIDS, bedridden for over a year.

I asked her what their names were. As she told me I felt the power of God go through my body and out through my arms and hands. I said to her they are already healed there is nothing to pray for. When she got home a few days later she found them walking down the road completely healed. They are still healthy 5 years later.

Annie had a divine appointment with God that day and apart from touching her head everything else that happened was out of my hands. Jesus gets all the glory and He alone is worthy.

In all things we have been given the same authority Jesus has. To experience the fullness of it we must fully submit to Him. What would have happened to Annie if I had given her a headache tablet? Nothing! It would have blocked her from receiving what God had for her.  By laying my hands on her head the Lord was able to bring His full power to help this poor and humble family be blessed out of their boots.

So submit to God, resist the Devil and he will flee! Command the mountain to be thrown into the sea and it will go. Have faith in God and see His power unleashed to do many miracles.

Prayer: Heavenly Father sometimes the most difficult thing to do is just submit ourselves completely into Your hands. We don't want to lose control over ourselves. But its when we let go and let God that miracles happen. Help us Father to be vessels of righteousness in submission to Your perfect will. In Jesus' name. Amen.
