The Resurrected King
Scripture: Revelations 1 v 13 - 15:
"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like
unto the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about
the paps with a golden girdle. His head and His hairs were white like wool, as
white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire; and His feet like unto
fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many
waters."
The apostle John was 90 years old living on the isle of
Patmos when he saw the resurrected Jesus, the King of Kings. Even having known
Him so intimately for the years of His earthly ministry, John fell at His feet
like a dead man through fear.
Here is Daniel's description of a similar encounter with
Jesus before He was born as a human, in Daniel 10 v 6; 9: "His body also
was like the beryl, and His face as the appearance of lightning, and His eyes
as lamps of fire, and His arms and His feet like in colour to polished brass,
and the voice of His words like the voice of a multitude. .....and when I heard
the voice of His words, then was I in a deep sleep..."
In both cases Jesus touched the trembling and fearful
John and Daniel and told them not to fear; that He had come to give them
understanding and insight for the end times.
When you see these two events placed side by side you
realise that the Son of God was very active in the lives of people before his
birth in Bethlehem and after His ascension. To Paul, Daniel and John He gave
revelations that had to be sealed until the time of the end. It was unlawful to
utter these words.
Our God has a very specific timetable for every moment
His people are on Earth. He wants all people to be saved and is not willing for
any to perish. How foolish those people are who imagine they can survive
without Him. He has a very complex plan into which He has factored in a
variable. Man's free will.
Jesus is a righteous judge of Mankind. He became one of
us to understand how we think; what hurts us; what delights and blesses us.
Today He sits at the right hand of His Father interceding for us every moment.
He knows how we feel about everything and He explains it to Father God so our
prayers can be answered.
He said in John 16 that we must make our needs known to
the Father. Trust Him to meet those needs and have faith in His ability to do
that which is miraculous. I have been watching a beautiful series called AD. I
recommend it to everyone. It's a follow on to The Bible series; from the Cross
to Revelations.
It has strengthened me in faith and understanding of what
those early Christians had to endure from the might of Rome. Its a preparation
for the time of the end when the power of Rome will rear its head again to
persecute believers in Jesus.
If we keep in our hearts the knowledge of the Resurrected
Christ, and what He is capable of, we will be well equipped to face anything
boldly and bravely and know that if we endure to the end we will be safe.
Exercise your free will to resist evil and embrace good to be an example to
those who search for Jesus.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, your Son is magnificent! We
worship and adore Him, the King of Kings, who is coming back for us. Let us
work in harmony with Him, Father, to hasten the day of our rescue from Earth to
Heaven. In Jesus' name. Amen.
