The Secret Place
Scripture: Psalm 91 v 1 - 4:
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my
refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver
thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and
under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shalt be thou shield and
buckler."
Have you found the secret place of the Most High God?
Have you made it your dwelling place? Its the place where you have your
personal fellowship with the Father, not only to pray and worship Him but also
to listen.
He wants to be a protective shadow over you to be your
fortress. A strong tower you can access whenever any kind of trouble or unease
makes its appearance. He wants you to listen to Him because He knows exactly
what you are going through and how best to help. If you know His voice He can
guide you quickly and safely out of danger.
He wants to alert you when someone is trying to con you,
deceive you or involve you in a scheme that will cost you dearly. It happened
to me some years ago, before all the scam warnings and higher online banking
security protection.
I received an email, seemingly from my bank, to fill in
all my personal details and pin or my online account would be closed. Gullible
me! Before I knew it several thousand bucks had gone from my account. I was in
shock. I called on Jesus for help.
A few minutes later I got a call on my mobile phone. A
man saying he was a technician who just happened to see what had been done to
my account and he had been able to reverse it and all the lost finance was
safely back in my account. I asked him if I was the only one affected. He said
No, thousands had fallen prey to the scam. I asked him how many others he had
helped. He said I could only help you! Then the call ended.
I went to my bank to thank them for having such a
wonderful technician on their staff. They told me there is no technician who
would be able to do what was done to my account. They saw the transaction
deducted and replaced within 2 minutes of the occurrence but could not explain
it.
A week later I had a call from 'my bank' enquiring how I
had got the money reversed. I had an inkling that those phoning were the ones
who scammed me, equally perplexed at how they lost their winnings. I told them
how Jesus was my protector and He would not permit anyone to steal from me and
He had known and allowed me to be scammed so He could show me how much He loved
me. Call ended abruptly.
No one knows what the Most High did for me but my faith,
trust, dependency and love increased mightily that day. Our God is faithful to
those who dwell in the secret place with Him. He will protect us from the
noisome pestilence, which is deadly plagues. He will cover us from the heat of
the Sun. Every snare the poacher lays to trap us will be sprung before we walk
into it.
You can live in complete confidence when the Creator of
the Universe is your friend and protector. Who can cause a child of God to
suffer when He is with us constantly? We are hidden inside the Rock of Ages!
Before the enemy can find us he has to defeat Jesus. We all know what happened
last time he tried that!
Jesus made a show of him openly - Colossians 2 v 15:
"And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them
openly, triumphing over them in it."
When Jesus died and went down to Paradise, Abraham's
Bosom, He so defeated Satan that He took away all his weapons and gave us power
to defeat him too. In His resurrection glory He could gloat over His enemy and
tell him that his days are numbered. In 1 Corinthians 2 v 8 it says "Which
none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not
have crucified the Lord of glory.". If satan had known that Jesus would be
resurrected he would never have let Him die!
We have all power and authority to likewise triumph over
him, and we must! Its the overcoming
power that keeps us abiding in the secret place of the Most High, safely hidden
under His wings as He keeps all evil at bay.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for greater protection than
the world can offer us. You are able to confound our enemies whenever we trust
You to do so. Even before we ask, You do amazing things. I give You all the
praise and glory for the miracles You have done. I love You Father, in Jesus'
name. Amen.
