Bless the Lord

Scripture: Psalm 103 v 1 - 5:
"Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemed thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

We should read these verses daily until they stay in our memory forever as they encapsulate the love of Jesus so beautifully.  We must never forget the wonderful things He has done for us, so count your blessings daily.  Even write them in your journal.

When problems arise we tend to forget our blessings and enumerate our woes to everyone who will listen.  This is a mistake as it gives glory to the Devil.  And he enjoys it so he will keep piling it on.  Jesus says give thanks for everything as even the bad things have a purpose that will eventually turn out in our favour.

When you bless and glorify the Lord for everything you take away the enemy's ability to hurt you, as he hates to hear us praise the Lord.  The psalm says that the Lord dwells in the praises of His people.  When we praise Him, He draws near and the enemy retreats.  This is a win-win situation for all of us.

He forgives our sins and heals our diseases.  There is a link between the two.  When Jesus healed the lame man and the Pharisees complained, He said, "Is it not easier to say, thy sins are forgiven, rise up and walk?"  It was on this remark that they built their case to crucify Him, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus knew that He had to take that death for us so that we could all be translated from sinful darkness to the kingdom of light.

Jesus has redeemed your life from destruction!  All Satan's plans to wreck your life got cancelled by the Blood of Jesus when you got born again and baptized in water.  The death he so carefully crafted to bring you into his hell got overturned by the Lord because you are already entered into eternal life in His kingdom.  So whether you live or die you will forever be with Jesus.

He has crowned you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.  How wonderful to be tenderly loved by Jesus after the bruises the world has hurt you with.  He is so comforting and kind as He heals your inner pain.  He is infinitely gentle and mindful of your wounds, which no one else sees or understands.  Remember, we are His body and He feels our every pain.  Take everything to Him in prayer, some difficult issues may take time, but that teaches you patience.

He will renew your youth, and keep a spring in your step if you keep praising instead of complaining. Even if you are in trouble right now, bless the Lord for the problem and pray expectantly that it will be sorted out to everyone's advantage, and you will see God's will in action for good in your situation.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I just want to praise You, lift my hands and say I love You, for You are the Most High, the Almighty, and I bless Jesus for He is worthy to be exalted and praised for all He has done for every one of us. Thank You for everything, good and bad, that has always turned out right. In Jesus' name. Amen.
