Overcome The World

Scripture: "These things have I spoken unto you, that in Me you might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation: But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, and they apply to His disciples through all ages.  The world is the system set in place by Satan whereby he is the unseen controller of countries, governments, nations and people.  The ONLY exemptions are born again Christians who are disciples of Jesus.

In Acts 17 it is written that these disciples have turned the world upside down! And its true!  We do not conform to the rules of this world as it says in Colossians 2 v 8.  We submit to our King, who is King of kings and Lord of lords.

Our faith in Jesus Christ, our prayers for healing and deliverance, turn the world on it's head.  Christians confront that system and are hated for it.  Jesus said Fear not if people hate you and separate you from their company because they hated me first, and you are in Me.

We are endowed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as His fruit becoming visible in our lives.  Against these there is no law.  Disciples should live such exemplary lives that the penalties of the law never touch them.

In the world you will have tribulations and anyone watching or reading the news bulletins will see those happening everywhere.  The world is in turmoil.  In Revelations Jesus says that He allows woes to come on the world to see if some will return to His fold.  After every disaster the churches are crowded, but when it's over how many remain consistent?

Jesus overcame the world.  Satan had no hold on Him though he tried everything to get Him to submit, even offering Him the world and all its kingdoms.  Jesus told him what he could do with that offer.  Deal or No deal?  No deal!  We must treat him exactly the same way!

Only those who are born again can say consistently No Deal.  The enemy owns everyone else whether you know or not.  When Adam submitted to him in Eden, he handed him the whole human race.  They were so bad God had to wipe them out with a flood and start over.

We have to make a difference to those lost in the world.  They are lost, we have to look for them and love them and bring them home.  Not all will come, but some will.  If you don't reach out they will remain lost.  Do you want to stand before your King with not one person saying that you shone the light for him to find his way home?

That's why I live for Jesus completely.  Just to be a light to help someone over a rough patch.  I encourage you to do likewise because there is no greater joy than to bring a sinner back into the Kingdom.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You do not want one soul to perish and be lost.  You patiently endure our problems and wait to use us to reach the lost. Jesus overcame the world and we are in Him by Grace, and have those same abilities.  Help us use them wisely to Your Glory.  In Jesus' name. Amen.
