The Sons of God

 Scripture: John 1 v 10 - 13:

"He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

Romans 8 v 14; 19:  "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God...... For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God."

We know that Jesus was known as both Son of God and Son of Man, and He was also the firstfruits of the new creation.  When we are born again, baptized in water and then in the Holy Spirit, we are saved and known to God as part of the new creation.

When Adam fell the whole human race fell with him and lost the spiritual unity he had with God.  Jesus is known as the second Adam because He restored that lost unity and elevated His people to the same stature Adam had before the fall.  God calls Jesus His only begotten Son, and Adam His first created son, but those who are born again are sons and daughters of the Living God.

So why does Paul say in Romans that the whole of creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God?  What is different about them?  My thoughts went back to Matthew 27 v 50 - 54:
"Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.  Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

Jesus said that John the Baptist was Elijah, and Moses and Elijah appeared with Him on the Mount of Transfiguration.  He has set a precedent in the Earth that can be used again.  There are the two prophets of Revelation 11 who can bring down the wrath of God just before the Rapture.  It is assumed that they will be a return of Moses and Elijah.

However, there is nothing stopping Jesus sending all those resurrected saints between now and then to do mighty things to unify the invisible body of Christ.  They may even now be living amongst us waiting for the signal to take on their proper manifestation!  Like a sleeper agent waiting for that one sound in a telephone call that awakens his true nature.

We are living in strange and exciting times and seeing our God shake the nations as powerful men are toppled in moments and alliances are shifting.  There is great uncertainty about the future when money is unstable and promises are so easily broken.  We are observing the state of the world that is disintegrating.  Millions of desperate migrants are trudging through countries that don't really want them but feel duty bound to do something to ease their misery.

ISIS is losing and failing in the Middle East, but has now sent its trained killers to bring a reign of terror in unknown places. It's like a monstrous hydra, kill off one faction and eight more spring up.  Finally the oppressed of Zimbabwe have united against the megalomaniac rule of Robert Mugabe, but it is revealing the ugly side of human nature.

Here in South Africa with elections in a few weeks those who have patiently waited for years for the ruling ANC, have finally said enough is enough we want change.  There will be violence and mayhem to achieve that change as the corrupt try to cling to power.

We all truly need the manifestation of the Sons of God to bring sanity, clarity, stability to those who follow Jesus, and to show those in the world who want to take their place in the Body of Christ, how to do so.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we groan within ourselves to see You in Your Glory and to see the Sons of God manifest the power of Heaven on Earth.  We want to shine for You in the darkness of this world and be a light for the repentant rebels to find their way home.  We love You Father, and we pray that You hear our cries. In Jesus' name. Amen.
