The Everlasting Covenant

Scripture: John 20 v 19: "Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you."
Hebrews 13 v 20-21:  "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.  Amen."

When we consider the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which we imitate in water baptism, it makes believable that we can live forever.  We have followed Jesus through His arrest in Gethsemane, His trial, His death on Golgotha, His burial, and now His resurrection to eternal life.  Each member of His body must receive the promise of eternal life.  For sure it is written in God's everlasting covenant with us.

The Everlasting Covenant was written in the Blood of Jesus; an eternal and binding covenant promise that we will be with Him in Heaven forever.  God is truth and will not deceive us.  We are the actual Body of Christ, which He is making tissue perfect through His Blood, so that when we are Raptured we will fit His Body perfectly.

Our bodies will reflect the work being done on our souls by the Lord in secret.  Our souls consist of mind, emotions and will, none of which can communicate with God. Only our eternal spirit can receive from God who is a Spirit, and we must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.  So prayer, praise, worship and adoration reach the heart of our Father, as well as our cries for salvation.

If you have repented and asked Jesus to come into your heart, but not been baptized by immersion in water after this, you will not receive the full power of the Holy Spirit working in you and through you.  The Holy Spirit is sent by the promise of the Father and to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit you need to have hands laid on you by those who have His power already.  It does not come automatically after baptism as some believe and stumble over.

God wants to empower us to be witnesses for Jesus and eternal life.  When you are born again and have received the fullness of the Godhead it is easy to believe in eternity and the everlasting covenant.  Jesus is alive in you, and you feel it every moment of the day.  He cannot be hidden.  If you love Jesus you want to talk about Him, sing praises to Him, love people like He does, pray for their needs, have fellowship with Him, all the time.

This is the everlasting covenant relationship in operation right now, which will be hugely enhanced when we have left this planet for Heaven.  His love for us knows no bounds, and when we are in submission to the will of God, we shall see His glory all around us.  It is joy unspeakable and full of glory and the half has never yet been seen.

Ephesians 2 v 5 - 8: "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

Let us praise and glorify His holy name for all eternity.  We are already seated with Him in heavenly places by Faith.  We are already living in the glory because He rose from the dead and conquered its power over us!

Prayer: Father God, fill our hearts and mouths with praise and worship this Resurrection morning to show honour to You. You are worthy to be loved and exalted for finding us and setting us free of this world system. Let us do great things in Your name to please you. Thank You for making an everlasting covenant with us, where every great thing that was in Jesus became ours when we are born again. In Jesus' name. Amen.
