Scripture: Ephesians 1 v 17 - 19: "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to usward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power."
There is a greatness to the power of God towards those who believe in Jesus, which is a manifestation of the spirit of wisdom and revelation producing deeper knowledge of Him. It is this power Jesus was referring to in Acts 1 just before His ascension. But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you....
This power was, is and as always will be, to witness for Jesus to the lost. He came to save the lost, which included all of us who read these words today. Somebody witnessed to you about the love, mercy, forgiveness, life of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit made that witness real in your heart, and you were born again.
The spirit of wisdom is now your blessing. Through it you will get revelations concerning Jesus, The Father, and your unity with them, and whatever His hopes are for you. He has a calling on your life because He created you and ransomed you out of eternal death. It was a gift from God, but your gift to Him is whatever you can do to help others come closer to Him.
You may think that those who pastors, evangelists, teachers, prophets, apostles, intercessors are the people with the power of God in them. The truth is that every Christian who has received the Holy Spirit baptism has the same power Jesus had when He lived on Earth. This is the spirit of wisdom revealing your status to you.
1 Peter 2 v 9: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
God wants you to know that you are free to experience the fullness of the power of His might and glory. It can happen anywhere and anytime. The more aware you are, the more the spirit of wisdom flows in you. The more you follow where that wisdom leads you, the more you will do for Jesus.
In Mark 16 we read about the signs that follow believers......healing, demons leaving, no deadly thing can harm them, speaking in tongues. These signs follow us, we don't follow signs! It is the spirit of wisdom and revelation for those who observe these spiritual events. We leave a trail of blessings for the lost to follow.
The passage from Ephesians is part of the perfect prayer Paul prayed for them and all of us. Read it and use it as a prayer for yourself and for your family.
Proverbs 3 v 5 - 8: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones."
Prayer: Father, we need the spirit of wisdom and revelation to empower us to avoid the pitfalls and minefields of temptation and worldly acclaim. May we give You glory and remain humble when the signs follow us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
