Fresh Anointing

Psalm 92 v 10: "But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil."

Lamentations 3 v 22 - 25: "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.  The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him."

The anointing of the Holy Spirit on the life of a Christian never gets old, stale or boring.  On the contrary, while we sleep our spirits are refreshed by the Lord so we awaken to a fresh anointing every morning.

Our horn is our authority through Jesus, and oil is the way the anointing is administered to us.  In its spiritual form this oil is an outpouring and a flow of the power of the Holy Spirit within our spirits, which are alive in Christ Jesus, seated on the right hand of the Father.

Ephesians 2 v 4 - 6: "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

The name Christ means The Anointed One.  It comes from the Greek word chrism meaning to anoint with oil.  When kings and queens are crowned they are also anointed with oil.

There is a video by Grant Jeffreys of an archaeological exploration of the Qumram caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947.  They discovered a vial of oil with one application left in it.  It was still liquid and proven to be the once off bottle of ancient oil to anoint the kings of Israel.  The one application left is for the anointing of the King of Kings, Jesus Christ when He returns to rule for the 1000 years of restoration.  The ingredients of this oil are no longer available.

We need a daily fresh anointing to deal with the new and different challenges that arise in our lives, family, city or nation.  In our fellowship, devotions and prayers before our Father, it enables us to intelligently intercede for the needs around us.

An anointing is given so we have divine strength and knowledge to handle spiritual, mental, emotional and physical situations.  We need the interaction with the Lord that comes with the anointing.  Jesus, the Anointed One, had a unique task to accomplish when He was on Earth.

He had to manifest the love of God to every human ever born and take upon Himself every sin, disease or demon, to die to cancel their power, and resurrect as the firstborn of a new creation, a Being who was no longer subject to the evil of this world for us to follow until we become like Him.

As we open our hearts to Him and become born again, we receive the anointing of a new creation, to live a sinless life doing the will of God.  We have the anointing of the Holy Spirit to use the spiritual gifts to benefit those around us.  Through us gifts of healing can flow to those who are ill.  Or discerning of spirits of good and evil can be used to break the chains of demons causing addictions, killings, human trafficking, sexual bondage, lies, fraud and corruption.

Jesus gave us the great commission to continue His mission under His anointing.  We have His 'power of attorney' to do the things He did, and even greater things!  He likens our horn to a unicorn. A singular horn. We have only one source for our authority. God Himself. Whenever we try to use our human power to deal with problems in our lives or others, we fail. When we rely and lean on Godly help we will succeed.

We will be anointed with fresh oil. It is new every morning! Our God is a Creator. We get our creative talents from Him, and He gives us a fresh anointing to pray, praise, worship, heal, prophesy, deliver, comfort, teach, and testify today.

The anointing is available to us all as we are all kings and priests in Christ Jesus.  We are anointed to serve the Lord in a humble way always knowing that He knows best what should be done.

1 John 2 v 27: "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

The Holy Spirit is our Teacher.  His ways and knowledge are far above that of any human being.  He says the anointing He has given us does not come and go, it is with us all the time to teach us all things.  He confirms that its always true and has no hidden deception but through it we will always be with Him.  This is a powerful promise and we should wake up each morning in the expectation of a wonderful fresh anointing that makes us one with the Lord, ready to conquer the world and be victorious over all things.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your promise to all was when Jesus left Earth and ascended to Heaven that You would give us the Holy Spirit to empower us to be witnesses to the gospel of truth about Jesus.  There is nothing on this planet more important than winning the lost back to Your Kingdom.  Give us this daily fresh anointing to achieve Your purposes, O God, and let us be quick to comply.  In Jesus's name. Amen.
