The Dangers of Tradition

Scriptures: Matthew 15 v 3: "But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?"
Matthew 15 v 7 - 9: "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
 8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
 9  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

Mark 7 v 9: "And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."


Traditions are man-made corrections to the Word of God! Jesus said that by our traditions we have disobeyed the commands of God. Let's have a closer look at this serious error on man's part.  God says disobedience ties His hands and prevents Him from helping us.  Our prayers and faith are in vain.

We either believe God and His Word or we reject it in favour of religious traditions.  Sometimes we are ignorant of the Word and think the church traditions are splendid, rich and beautiful.  The expensive garments, fancy hats, ornate cathedrals, golden altars and vessels all look very appealing and proper, but do they make us more spiritual or more carnal?

In the Bible we have Pastors, also known as Bishops or Elders, Priests, Teachers, Evangelists, Prophets,  Apostles and Intercessors.  To this were added deacons and helps. Jesus is our High Priest. No further offices are described. 

In various churches today we will find archbishops, bishops who control pastors, parsons, vergers, sidesmen, ushers, archdeacons, cardinals, nuns, patriarchs, monseigneurs, Brides of Christ, mothers, fathers, servers, and Popes. All these are man-made offices in man's traditions and have NO ANOINTING nor appointing from our Heavenly Father and are not recognised by the Godhead.

They go to University and Bible School to get degrees of Bachelor of Theology and Doctor of Divinity so that men will honour them and pay them bigger salaries. But our Word says in 1 John 2 v 27 "But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in Him."

Therefore if you are truly called of God to serve Him in the ministry He will appoint you, anoint you, teach you, discipline you, mould you, break you, remake you, heal you, deliver you, send you when He is ready to do that which pleases Him.  He will expect us to be humble, kind, loving, compassionate, down-to-earth ministers who are following in His footsteps.

Religious traditions with no foundation in the Word of God include baby baptism or Christening; worship of Mary and dead saints; creating saints after people have died; purgatory; the assumption of Mary into Heaven; the lie that Mary was born sinless; holy water; making the sign of the cross over your body; medals, icons and statues; prayers to anyone other than God the Father in Jesus' name; pilgrimages to shrines like Lourdes and Fatima for healing because the truth is that healing comes from Jesus - by His stripes we are healed.

The time is drawing near for Jesus to return to Earth which first means that the born again Christians, the dead ones rise first and then the living rise to meet Jesus (the Head of the Church which is His Body) in the air. We return to Earth with Jesus to rescue Israel in the battle of Armageddon.

It is time to get real with your Creator and remove all additions and traditions that offend Him and return to the simplicity that is in Christ. Reject religiosity and make friends with your Maker. He loves you and wants to enjoy fellowship with you.

When most of these traditions were added the ones doing it had no idea that the day would come when all their lies would be exposed on various media outlets in the 21st Century. It has now become a hypocritical battle to hold onto traditions rather than lose face world wide. Its a choice that will mean eternal life or death for those faced with tearing down cherished traditions or being obedient to the Lord our God.

If the same Serpent who whispered the fateful words in Eve's ear "Surely God won't ...." Is doing the same to your ears then realize that the same God who kicked her and Adam out of Paradise will not hesitate to do that to you. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Traditions are a deception based in pride.  We are proud of our traditions and fiercely protect them.  We have to know that on the Day we stand before the Judgment Seat to give account that whenever we chose tradition over obedience to God, we will have to be truthful.  If it was pride that felled Lucifer then our Father will judge it harshly.

I share these truths in order to alert people to the dangers of tradition.  I want to make sure that everybody who reads these blogs knows and understands what the requirements for eternal life are.  I don't want anyone to falter at the tape in the race of life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father let us no longer deceive ourselves that You will overlook our man made doctrines and traditions and be lenient on us when You have warned us that those who disobey You through their traditions worship You in vain. Lord God this is serious and needs urgent attention so please convict the guilty and bring them to their knees and cause them to make the drastic changes needed to get Your Church back to the way You expect it to be.
