Spiritual Maturity

Scripture: Hebrews 5 v 13 - 14: "For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

Proverbs 1 v 5 - 7: "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6  To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

For a long time now the Holy Spirit has exercised our senses to discern both good and evil.  One of the most predominant ways is through the sense of smell.  This is much more refined than just having a nose for trouble, it is a blessed communication that brings the Lord close to us to enhance our prayer time.

Early this morning we could smell fruit very strongly, particularly guavas.  A lovely rich and distinctive odour.  There were no guavas, fresh or tinned, in the house so we knew we were receiving information the Lord wanted us to act upon.

Our first impression was that some of our prayers were bearing fruit so we asked the Lord to increase the fruitfulness wherever He saw it springing up.  We have recently been praying for India, South Africa, Australia, Israel, USA, and the UK, and asked for a scripture concerning fruit in these nations.

We received the verses from Proverbs above.  The Lord says He will increase wisdom and understanding to those who fear Him, in the sense of respecting Him as the source of wisdom.  He will also increase their ability to learn.  So those people in those lands who are maturing spiritually, this word is for you.

We are thankful to our God for every opportunity to serve Him, and we want to encourage everyone to seek the Lord and ask for His wisdom to increase.  I can still smell those guavas strongly and pray to send this fruitfulness upon those who read this blog.

Galatians 5 v 22 - 26: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."

Let the fruit of the Holy Spirit grow abundantly in all our lives, and let us crucify fleshly affections and lusts now that we are no longer subject to this world system.

There is a New World Order to prepare for the manifestation of the Antichrist.  We cannot pray it or him away.  However, we can use this fruitful time to reach out and bring in the harvest of souls waiting to be gathered.  Let us all mature spiritually and be willing participants in the work of the Lord.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Your ways and thoughts are higher than ours, and it is such a privilege to work together with the Holy Spirit today to strengthen the Body of Jesus through a simple smell of guavas.  Thank You Lord for using this method to increase the fruitfulness wherever You want it to go.  I pray the reader will receive their portion right now.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
