God Turns the Tables

Scriptures: Daniel 6 v 16: "Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee."
Daniel 6 v 21 - 22: "Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.  My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt."

1 Corinthians 2 v 7 - 8: "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory."

One of the most wonderful ways that our God shows His power is by the way He turns the tables on Satan when His faithful people call upon His name when in distress. God always shows up and causes us to triumph when defeat seems imminent.

Daniel was thrown into the lion's den by a jealous group of officials of King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon, because Daniel, one of the Jews who were captured by them, worshipped the God of Israel contrary to their decree. The king loved Daniel but had to order his death because he had decreed that no one could pray to any but him.

However, our God turned the tables and the lions ignored Daniel all night. Next morning he was released and the jealous officials were thrown into the pit with their whole families and immediately devoured. When we pray and believe that God has heard us He will outwit the enemy every time.  Hopefully it's not this drastic!

By His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ turned the tables on Satan and every false religion. In 1 Corinthians 2 v  7- 8 Paul speaks about the mystery of the hidden wisdom ie God's plan of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus - which Satan and his demons had no clue about or they would not have crucified Him.

They were outwitted by the Resurrection of Jesus! And by the fact that we were in Him like the animals on Noah's Ark. Safe and secure within the Rock for every one who believes in Jesus the Saviour.  When we are obedient to Him we are under His protection. When we stray the enemy pounces.

So likewise for us if we are in a tricky situation let us call on Jesus our Saviour and Redeemer to rescue us no matter what the problem may be. His answers may make no immediate sense but His ways are wise and He sees the future. He will turn the tables on the most dire situation and bring victory out of it.  We may have to face our own "lions den" meaning we may have to go through a harrowing experience, but our God promises to deliver us out of it.

God turned the tables in Genesis when He had Noah build an ark where it had not rained for 100 years.  On it pairs of every animal, bird, reptile, and insect were secured.  One family of righteous people were saved.  Satan had so warped the people of Earth that God's only option was to destroy them.  We are back at that level of corruption again, but God has secured His family in the Body of Jesus, a living ark, to once again outwit the enemy.

The Rapture of believers in the last days is not a myth, it is coming soon.  Just as Noah was mocked for thinking a flood would come in the desert, so are believers mocked for trusting in the Rapture.  In the twinkling of an eye a fraction of a second, they will have vanished forever.  Just before the second half of the seven year tribulation is unleashed on mankind.

Those who mock, who deny Jesus, who persecute Jews and Christians, who hate Israel, who reject the Bible will be left behind to face the Wrath of the Lamb, as this last period is known.  The tables will be turned and God will have the last laugh.  The power of God will cause the inhabitants of Earth to try bury themselves under rocks to get away from His angry eyes.

For then they will know the truth but they are in the grip of the Antichrist.  They can now only save themselves by sacrificing their lives.  In the Old Testament people were spared by the Blood of sheep and bulls.  In the New Testament that are saved by the Blood of Jesus, after the Rapture, by their own blood as martyrs.  Millions will do this but only because they ignored the truth when it mattered.

Our God wants to spare us this fear and pain but He cannot change His Word.  Don't leave it too late to recognize the Saviour  of the World who is able to turn the tables in the worst imaginable situations and rescue us in His love.

Prayer: Heavenly Father it is always wonderful to rejoice in Your victories especially when things look bleak, knowing that You turn the tables in response to our faith and prayers. You cause the enemy to make blunders through greed and thereby destroy his power over us. Father keep us faithful and committed to prayer to see every victory won. In Jesus' name. Amen.
