Unto Us a Son is Given

Scripture: Isaiah 9 v 6 - 7:  "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the Throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."

Jesus Christ is a unique personality in the whole history of mankind. History can be correctly interpreted as His Story. He put aside His kingly authority, and His kingdom, to be born in a manger in Bethlehem. The date is not given but the whole world chose 25 December to celebrate it. As someone remarked yesterday 'It's the thought that counts'.

Our King is back in Heaven seated on the right hand of Our Father, watching over and governing Israel and His Body, the invisible church. His name is above every other name, it is higher than any other name; held in highest esteem in Heaven. On Earth many curse that beautiful name without a reason. They don't use Buddha or Brahma as a curse word.

Jesus did what no other could do - He conquered sin - to enable us to overcome it too. He made a way for us to be restored to full stature, which Adam destroyed 6000 years ago. Jesus gave us hope for the future and He gave us answered prayer. He died to set us free of the satanic atrocities done to us before the world was formed.

In my personal relationship with Jesus, which started over 40 years ago, I had to discover His likes and dislikes and do my best to please Him. Just over 35 years ago He told me He didn't like Christmas and He would prefer that I would stop celebrating it as His birthday. I shared that with my husband and two young sons and they were very accepting and have remained true to His wishes ever since.

Jesus showed me that the wise men brought Him gifts when He was born but these days He doesn't receive anything. People bestow gifts on one another and most of them don't know Him as Saviour, Lord and Friend.

He showed me Jeremiah 10 v 2 - 4 where we are instructed not to follow pagan ways of cutting a tree out of the forest, bringing it into our home and decorating it with silver and gold.

It was a shock to me that celebrating Christmas hurt Jesus and I stopped doing it because I did not want to offend Him. He did not tell anyone else to give it up and I don't either.  Its a man made tradition and once you make the decision its easy to continue. Romans 14 v 5: One man esteems one day above another: another esteems every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Therefore I celebrate His birth, death and life every day and give Him the gift of these Bible studies to use as He sees fit. My door is always open to those needing prayer or ministry so that my life is fully submitted to His will. This is the only acceptable gift I can give Him, and He must enjoy it as He gives me so much back.

I no longer see Him as Baby Jesus in a manger but as the Glorious Resurrected Christ in whom all power and authority is bestowed.  He gave this authority to us when He ascended to Heaven, it is our "power of attorney" over which we must be faithful stewards.

Satan is very afraid of this authority and power vested in us and bombards us with lies about our weakness and doubts.  In the past few weeks I had an African woman come in to help with chores an she is a lovely Christian lady but had a few problems.

I told her she needed the baptism of the Holy Spirit and she agreed.  She came back a few days ago glowing with the changes He has made instantly in her life.  He is the full manifestation of Jesus Christ in our lives.  God gave us His Son, and when He left Earth, the Father gave us the Holy Spirit to enjoy the presence of His Son in our hearts until He returns.

So enjoy your celebrations and all your Christmas meals and activities to the full. Be blessed in all you do. Be uplifted in the everlasting arms of Jesus all year round. My love to you all. Amen.
