Scripture: Zechariah 4 v 6: "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."
Over the past few decades I have learned the truth of this verse, that every thing originates in the Spirit and manifests in the flesh. There is no doubt in my mind that God knew us in Heaven as individuals before we came to Earth as new born babies.
"Mummy, where did I come from?" is not a reference to the birds and bees, but because the child still retains some faint memory of God and Heaven. They may have dreams or visions and know that place as home. In Jeremiah 1 v 5: "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee: and before thou come forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
God is a spirit, and so are we! In this Earth realm we are clothed with a soul and a body of flesh. We manifest what type of spirit we are through our bodies. We call it body language, but the Lord interprets it differently. He identifies our relationship with Himself by how we behave towards others.
If we love one another as He loves us, then we are spiritually healthy and filled with the Holy Spirit. We need to understand what that love is. In Greek it is called Agape. The overflowing, sacrificial love of Jesus, full of mercy, compassion and forgiveness, without compromise or doubt. It is pure, holy love.
In extreme cases, some humans exhibit or manifest utter hatred and loathing for their fellow man resulting in rape, murder, torture, perversions and other horrors. These are the souls He needs to save. He knows what happened to them and He sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue them and others who may have less horrific manifestations but still need healing.
God says it's not by might or power but by His Spirit that the solution to the world's problems will be achieved. The pride in man battles with that concept. They seldom or never see His hand guiding the affairs of men. A reminder comes from Exodus and the defeat of Pharoah after God sent Moses to confront him. There followed ten terrible plagues upon Egypt, which did not affect the Hebrew slaves, but only the Egyptians, before Pharoah finally let them go.
This whole drama began in the spirit in Satan's realm, and God proved His ability to defeat him. Pharoah is a type of Satan, as was Hitler. Both wanted to enslave or kill Jews, both were defeated. Any who fight against God's chosen nation of Israel will be defeated. Those who are opposing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will find out the hard way that they cannot fight against the Lord.
Everything that happens to us in our life is something that first started in the Spirit realm before we were born. Our only control is to be filled with the Holy Spirit through the salvation of Jesus. Then we are on the same page with God and learning His ways, walking in the Spirit with Him. Anything else we try leaves us at the mercy of our mortal enemy.
So open your mind and heart to understand what God wants you to know. This world is actually a slow motion action replay of spiritual significance that happened before Adam and Eve were created. The speed ratio is 1 day equals 1000 years. 6 days -or 6000 years - have gone by and we are into the 7th. We are in "extra time" and the whistle can be blown at any moment. Be ready for the Day of the Lord is close.
As spirit beings, even trapped in our body of flesh, we respond to spiritual influences. There is a space within us that only Jesus can fill. Before we surrender and let Him into our hearts, we fill this inner space with every other form of worship, but nothing truly satisfies.
We get into religion, the occult, drugs, music, sex, and booze. We cannot get enough of it but the craving gets worse and worse. When we finally realise that Jesus is who we need, we discover the truth of those whom the Son of Man sets free are free indeed. It's not by any might or power of our own, it is by His Spirit.
Prayer: Father God, neither Satan nor humans can withstand the power of Your Spirit. There is no earthly might or power that can defeat You. Satan was defeated by the death and resurrection of Jesus, and we are saved by His Blood. We know You don't want to lose any souls because You love each one, and You have given us the task of telling them the truth. Please let them believe it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
