Scripture: Ephesians 3 v 14 - 19: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."
Precious Friends, I want to talk about the great depths of God that each one of us needs to be part of. We need to be out there in the huge ocean of experience with God.
We will never get there if we are still tethered to the dock through fear, unbelief, doubt, stubbornness, rebellion, ignorance or disobedience. We have to leave all that behind and launch out for the deep blue sea.
God has the chart and direction we need to take. We do not need to know the destination for the journey itself will change us. We will be alone with God out there, forming a deep relationship through worship and prayer. The moment we seek those depths with Him, to the little we have more will be added.
We will learn to navigate by the seat of our pants, through discerning Gods will and flowing with it. We have to let go of pre-conceived ideas, assumptions, delusions and make believe. We must replace them with truth, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and obedience to use it all under His guidance.
Every day that we grow spiritually and change bit by bit into the likeness of Jesus, we become more and more unique. People may think we are peculiar but as in Bible times they will take note that we have been with Jesus. He is the Creator and our changing to be more like Him makes us into creative people who not only think outside the box but realise that there is no box.
Boxes and labels and rules belong to the world we live with but we are no longer part of it. Unless we are still tied up to the dock and worldly cargo is spilling into the holds. This will sink our ships before we can reach the great depths of God. He needs our holds to be empty of our self so He can fill our vessel with Himself. We need to become ONE with Him.
John 17 v 11: "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."
The last prayer of Jesus before His death included the words above. Further on He prayed that none of us would be lost. We can be lost on the shore of sin and confusion but out on the great ocean our course will be true and the log of experience of God will be written on our hearts and minds forever.
When we do dock somewhere it is to share our accumulated treasures with those to whom we are sent. They will be prepared by God to receive the cargo He needs to deliver to them. He has filled us with the Living Water and changed us to be obedient and pour out the Living Water on those who thirst for it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, our lives become so busy and complicated while we are tied to the dock, through Grace let us sail into Your great depths where from glory to glory you are changing us! Let the change be permanent and perfect. In Jesus's name. Amen.
