Scripture: Mark 16 v 17 - 18: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
1 Corinthians 12 v 7 - 10: "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:"
The ministry of Jesus was to spread the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons and die for our sins, which would change our status from victim to victor. However, ignorance is not bliss and many are those who perish through ignorance of what God has empowered born again believers.
Instead of taking afflicted people to the Lord in prayer, they are taken first to doctors. They have no faith in the power of Jesus. My children were brought up by faith and hardly ever saw a doctor for illness but only for times when stitches were needed for bad cuts. My elder son now in his 40's broke his arm a few years ago in a serious cycling fall into an area occupied by vagrants and terribly hygienic.
To make matters worse his broken bones pierced the skin and were badly affected by the terrain. The surgeon warned that the bones could not escape infection even though they had been scrupulously scrubbed with germ killing disinfectants. He chose not to stitch up the arm for a week but leave it open to be regularly cleansed.
To his very great surprise the arm did not swell, not even a tiny bit, there was zero infection and my son needed no pain killers at any stage. He made sure the surgeon knew that Jesus was his healer.
Right now I am rejoicing over the miraculous healing of a dear friend who was diagnosed with cancer in various parts of her body, her liver, her colon, and her aorta. This last one was so serious that she was told that death could happen at any moment. She refused chemo or any other treatment and placed her trust in what Jesus could do.
Much prayer and faith were made on behalf of my friend. Last week she told me that she was terribly weak and could no longer keep food down. She was vomiting a lot and felt very very ill. The thought in my mind was when we are weak then Jesus is strong in us. However I was concerned for her and was pleased she would visit her doctor yesterday.
Her family went with her and after a full examination he told her, and them, that her aorta and colon were completely free of cancer and that only a small spot remained on her liver. She was not able to tell me how her doctor reacted to this huge reversal as her family filled his surgery with jubilation.
The words of a Christian chorus come to mind:
He touched me, oh yes He touched me,
And O the joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole.
Jesus touch my friend as He touched my son's arm and many millions of others who believe He heals today, and He miraculously healed her. It was the best birthday gift I could ever have received.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for all the blessings You bestow upon us. Thank You for the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus that includes healing and deliverance from oppression. Thank You for Your Word that clearly explains our legacy of Your will and testament that became valid for all believers after the death of the Testator, God the Son, Jesus Christ, who died to make it so. In Jesus' name. Amen.
