The Whole Armour of God

Scripture: Ephesians 6 v 10-18: "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
 11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
 12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
 13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 
 14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
 15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
 16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
 17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
 18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"


The reason God gave this spiritual armour to us is because we wrestle not against flesh and blood. This means that every major problem we encounter seemingly on the  human level, is actually a wrestling match against the rulers of darkness of this world - Satan and his demons, who have ruled over human beings since the Garden of Eden.

Many millions of people have no idea about this reality. Their bitter family feuds; ugly divorces; history of miscarriages; inherited illnesses etc are seen as unavoidable human conditions.  Tragedies like rape, murder, loss through scams or theft; car accidents;  wars; atrocities; addictions; abortion; sexual sins; and most other conditions that SEEM to be controlled by humans can be placed at the feet of the master mind of Satan.  

God is not the author of confusion or sin.  Sin comes from deliberate rebellion against God's will and plan for our lives.  This comes from following the original rebel, Lucifer, aka Satan, the Great Red Dragon, who uses us as pawns to achieve his aims.  A major manifestation of the Great Red Dragon is Communism, which denies the existence of God.

The biggest con on this planet, is Satan's supreme lie that he and his demons are just myths, not real, figments of our imaginations, harmless fantasies.  In fact they are very evil spirits which do not have their own bodies of flesh through which to manifest, so they seek human or animal bodies to exhibit their nature.

In the first millennium after the Creation, God repented, was sorry, He had made man.  All were exceedingly corrupt except for one family of 8 people.  Animals were also part of the fall and they became wild, poisonous, deadly and frightening, including insects, and plants, as the nature of Satan tarnished every living thing.  

After the Flood of Noah wiped out all but pairs of every creature, the second millennium started with people only having a lifespan of 70 years or so.  A major speed up of God's plan.

God gave all humans a free will to choose whether we would serve Him or not.  If we choose not to serve Almighty God and His Son Jesus, but some other god or be an atheist, we are in the midst of Satan’s kingdom and under his control.  He uses them in his sadistic mind games aimed at all those who are in the Kingdom of God.  This is why we need to put on this armour and never remove it.  It protects the born again saints against the fiery darts of the enemy of our souls.

The girdle of truth keeps us honest in all our dealings with other people.  Jesus honours those who discard white lies to get out of tricky situations, and the truth will set us free, and lies will bind us.  The strongest infallible truth is the Holy Bible.  Read it daily and do what it says to do.  This is God’s will for us.

The breastplate of righteousness covers our heart and keeps us from sinful deeds.  If we do not overcome sin in our lives this protection loses its effectiveness and we need to do some repenting to get it back. 

The helmet of salvation protects our minds from bad thoughts, evil imaginations, sexual fantasies and mental diseases.  We are in control of our mind and need to exercise that control.  We can let a bird land on our head but must prevent it making a nest in your hair.  Chase those thoughts away.

The fervent effective prayer of a righteous man gives great victory. We need to wear this armour always to be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked. This armour stops Satan in his tracks. It gives us the ability to stay standing while he falls.  It's not only asking God to put the armour on us but keeping it activated by our obedience to Him.  No point having an electric fence if we don't switch it on.

As we head into 2019, remember that our God responds to our choices.  If we love, give, pray, fast, obey and follow Him we will never lack anything we need.  Let these be our New Year Resolutions so that His peace, plenty and protection will be our portion.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You have covered every angle the enemy can use against us, and it is up to us to use all Your provision to live an abundant life in Your kingdom.  Thanks for this spiritual armour that protects us.  Lord help us to keep it on by being obedient to Your Word.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
