Archangel Michael

Scripture: Revelation 12 v 7 - 10: "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon (Satan) and the dragon fought and his angels.
8  And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

Daniel 10 v 13: "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia."

Daniel 10v 21: "But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things but Michael your prince."

In Heaven in the beginning there were three archangels: Gabriel the Messenger and Recording Archangel; Michael the Guardian Angel and Lucifer who was over Music, Praise and Worship. He lost that name when he fell from Heaven and is now called Satan, the Accuser of the Brethren.

Archangels each have oversight over one third of the angels. When Satan fell from Heaven one third of the angels followed him and were then known as fallen angels.  They are very evil and powerful and are known as rulers or principalities.

Michael and his angels in their position as guardians of Heaven fought against Satan and his angels and threw them out of Heaven. Jesus said He saw Satan fall from Heaven like a flash of lightning. (Luke 10v18).

Michael has a special assignment now. He is the Guardian Angel over Israel. This was seen in the book of Daniel when Daniel fasted for 21 days and  (the pre-incarnate) Jesus came to him in answer to his prayers. Jesus said He came the first day that Daniel had called upon Him but He was prevented by the prince of Persia from getting through.

What was He trying to break through? The Satanic barrier cast over all nations as described in Isaiah 25. Jesus said the Prince of Persia, none other than one of the fallen angels who had called on other fallen angels to help, had withstood Him for 21 days and He eventually called on Michael to help Him and together they defeated the fallen angels which had set themselves up as Rulers over the nations which surround the Middle East..

When you see the dismal state of Iran, which used to be called Persia, and neighbour Iraq which was badly crushed by ISIS a few years ago, alongside Syria, you may understand that the evil destruction falling upon them is the result of that battle back in the time of Daniel.  Spiritual manifestations often take a very long time to materialise in this world.

The events in the heavenlies are manifested on this Earth and there will be a breakthrough in those lands of the power, love and salvation of Jesus Christ. First uproot the evil then build and plant.  Recent reports from Iran say that conversion to Christianity has reached epic numbers, with thousands daily turning away from Islam to follow Jesus.

Just as happened in the nations at the top of Africa where the Arab Spring took place quite a few years ago.  It was followed by a Christian revival!  Thousands of Muslims have converted to Christianity.

The church is growing very quickly and quietly there. A couple of missionaries in Algeria visited the dreaded police station, which had shown extreme brutality towards converts in the past. They were amazed at the policemen who crowded round them asking for knowledge of salvation through Jesus. They spent nearly an hour sharing the gospel with them!

The Archangel Michael watches over Israel to keep her enemies at bay. He protects her from a spiritual onslaught but the sophisticated early warning system and anti-nuclear defence plus the strength of Israel's army and airforce, are a manifestation of Michael in the physical sense.  He must have been very busy these past few years fending off multiple rocket attacks.

Israel is the apple of God's eye and will not be defeated again. She has suffered for her sins as the prophets all warned her about, and no matter what the world throws at her now, the power of God and His assignment to Archangel Michael will cause it to fail.

Daniel 12 v1: "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book."

He is a mighty angel doing God's work and must never be summoned by man or prayed to. If you have a need ask your Father in Heaven to help you. His ear is always open to your cry.  Jesus said all we need do is make our needs known to the Father.

The false Prosperity gospel comes from pride and entitlement that has people claiming houses, cars, wealth, and vacations that are not what humble servants of Jesus Christ should be doing.  If the Lord has blessed us with wealth it is for the furtherance of the true gospel, not to increase our material goods beyond our real needs.

The early church had everything in common.  They gave houses, money, goods, and food to the apostles so that everyone had what they needed.  Acts 4 v 31 - 35: "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32  And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33  And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34  Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many who possessed lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35  And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need."

Likewise God has His angelic host over which He alone has control.  We have no authority to command or activate or send or summon any heavenly angel for any purpose whatsoever.

There are many that do think and practice the commissioning of angels which is contrary to scripture and creates problems of huge proportions in the spiritual realm.  They send angels to find parking, jobs, to bring tithes and finance into the church, to control nations, to protect people in war zones etc etc.  The only spirits that Christians have authority over are demons when they are being rebuked, bound and cast out.

Because commanding angels is disobedience to God, those evil fallen angels go on the assignments angels are commanded by people to do.  And they do the opposite, bringing destruction, mayhem, disease, death and calamity on innocent people.  So it's time to let God be God and we just obey Him so we do not stir up unknown trouble we cannot control.

Many Intercessors waste valuable prayer time having to fight against these false angels of light sent by Christians to bless other Christians, and other situations, instead of concentrating on getting people saved, healed, delivered and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus loves us and forgives us our sins but we must not open doors to more sinful deeds.  Trust Him to know how to manage the angelic realm without our help.  He sent Michael to gather the Jews back into Israel and guard them there.  That is His love in action for them.

Prayer: Heavenly Father all things are under Your perfect control. The rulers of darkness are falling to Earth from defeat in time of Daniel and their evil flares up for a season in this world but it is just the final death throes of demons which have lost the battle. We shall not fear but rejoice in Your plan unfolding. Help us to open our eyes and see the beauty of Your Kingdom coming down in all Your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.
