Scripture: Luke 21 v 25 - 28: "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."
There is one real hope for this world and that is the soon return of Jesus to Earth as He promised, and as the angels said to the disciples as they witnessed Him ascending to Heaven.
Acts 1 v 10 - 11: "And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
We do not know the exact date of this return, but He said we would know when its near. It's like playing hunt the thimble with your mother! When you are going in the right direction she says you are getting warmer, and when its really close she says now you are very hot!
One of the live updates is on global warming. We are getting hotter! The Person who is getting closer is causing our planet to get hotter. In a report just in:
"The Arctic's melting season starts each year in June and ends in August, with peak melting in July. However, the scale of ice loss in Greenland this year was extraordinary. From July 30 to August 3, melting occurred across 90% of the continent's surface, dumping 55 billion tons of water over 5 days. That's enough to cover Florida in almost 5 inches of water."
The report continued that scientists had predicted a melting on this scale to be a worst case scenario in 2070! Not a misprint....2070. And without any warning it has happened in the past two weeks. So it's back to the drawing board for the boffins to make new projections on how bad this is going to get.
There was another strange event in a huge black hole in the Milky Way. It suddenly started pulsating a very large, very bright light which lasted for 3 days. They had never seen such behaviour in a black hole before and are still puzzling over it. Jesus said, I am the Light. Perhaps He is alerting us who are watching for His soon arrival. We don't know the day but Jesus is flashing His headlights, saying keep looking up!
No doubt those who don't know Jesus nor His mighty plans for those who follow Him will think I am borderline crazy to say these are active signs of the second coming.
2 Peter 3 v 2 - 4: "That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."
At that stage Peter did not imagine that the Creation would be overshadowed by the theory of evolution, which eliminates God completely, but he knew the mockers and scoffers would come!
Jude v 17 - 19: "But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit."
The very fact that there are those who mock and scoff are a sign of the end times so do not be dismayed by it, but rejoice that Jesus is on His way. These same mockers will be the ones trying to hide under rocks when the Rock of Ages arrives.
1 Corinthians 2 v 13 - 14: "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
The natural man may have many university degrees, but those who are filled with the Spirit of God do have the mind of Christ, our Creator and Redeemer. We are shown things that are foolish, stupid, unrealistic, illogical and just crazy to the learned scientists issuing worst case scenarios 50 years from now that struck out of the blue this month like a scary movie.
Who do we believe? Those who know God, and His Word, or those who know the Universe through very large telescopes? Will all those expensive items be able to see the coming of Jesus until He reveals Himself like He did to His disciples on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection? They walked miles with Him while He expounded the scriptures about Himself to them, but it was only when He broke bread with them that their eyes were opened and then He vanished.
The world needs to break bread with Him. Sit at His table and get to know Him, then will they see truth and understand why global warming makes us happy.
This Earth belongs to Jesus, with everything on it, and in the sea, sky, and stars. He is coming to take out the trash and make it beautiful again. He will remove pollution of every kind at no cost. He will restore this planet to the Manufacturer's original settings.
It will be for the righteous believers from the days of Creation till the 7th Millennium from that time, to enjoy this Earth in the presence of the King of Glory. It will take 1000 years of sin free, pollution free, corruption free, disease and death free perfection to achieve and those who will enjoy it have their names written in the Lambs Book of Life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the mind of Christ so we know what's coming next. Thank You that we need have no fear of the future, nor of our eternal home. We fear for those who are bound by men's knowledge and have no clue about what this world is all about. Help us, O Lord, to reach them in time. In Jesus' name. Amen.
