How To Win Souls

Scripture:  Matthew 28 v 18 - 20: "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

John 3 v 3: "Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of heaven."

When we die we can take nothing with us of a material nature but if we have won souls to God's Heavenly kingdom, we will one day meet them all there and be blessed.  In the last words of the Book of Matthew, Jesus gives His instructions, known as "The Great Commission."  Basically, Go tell everyone about Me.

Once we are saved we are recruited into the task force of saving others and any one of us at any time may be the only rescuer a lost soul may ever meet. Some struggle to do their part because they don't know how to go about it.

A sinner is one who is chained to this world by sinfulness. Sin results in separation of that soul from God forever so before you ever get to help him or her, the Holy Spirit is convicting that person of sin.  They may the most unlikely, most distant from God person you know, but God has His eye on him or her.

This conviction by the Holy Spirit causes the sinner to feel guilty and start hating the sins he or she is committing, and to start seeking a solution. Because sinners have believed lies about Jesus, He is usually the last resort. They may try all sorts of self-help, improve your self-image, remedies first.

So the first thing you should do to help is make Jesus real to the sinner.  The simplest way of doing that is by sharing your testimony of how you got saved and how Jesus changed your life and forgave your sins. Share how clean and peaceful you feel, and that you now have a relationship with Jesus, you can talk to Him and hear His voice.

The amount of money spent on any thing that can bring an ounce of peace to the human mind is huge.  Most people live in anxiety, worry and fear, and try to manage these with prescription medication or other drugs.  The addictions just make matters worse.

Therefore, you can introduce Jesus as the Prince of Peace.  He is the highest, most powerful bringer of peace, and its not worldly peace, its deep, abiding peace that only forgiveness of sin, and removal of guilt, can ever give us.  If you know Jesus, you know Peace.

This may be enough to win a lost soul to salvation and pray with them to be born again. Sometimes the doubts and fears are very strong and you have to water the seed sown with prayer.  Ask Jesus what is blocking that sinner from knowing Him. He will guide you in how to pray. You may never speak about Jesus to him again but He will send others across his path to help.

When someone is ready to be saved they could pray something similar to this:

"Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son who was crucified to take away all my sins. I believe Jesus was raised from death to life.
Father forgive me for all my sins. I confess that I lied; rebelled against you; was jealous, spiteful, gossipped, drank, smoked and drugged too much, hated, committed sexual sin; was angry and aggressive; was involved in witchcraft, occult or other false religions.

I repent (change my mind) against doing these things and will turn away from them now with Your help.  I take back every curse word against You, forgive me for insulting You, Lord Jesus.  I also take back every curse through witchcraft to afflict or manipulate others to my will.  I release them to Your perfect will, Jesus.

Lord, I forgive everyone who ever hurt, slandered or stole from my family and me.  I release them from every judgment and any bitterness in my heart.

Father, please cleanse me with the Blood Jesus shed on the Cross and make me whiter than snow.

Jesus please come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me and writing my name in the Lamb's Book of Life, Jesus. Amen."

Rejoice with the new born saint and encourage him or her to read the Bible daily and pray often to build up faith in Jesus and in their relationship with God. As soon as possible they should be baptised in water and then experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This completes the salvation and thereafter the new saint should grow in grace.

Prayer: Father God the whole of Heaven rejoices when one sinner repents and becomes born again of water and the spirit. I pray that rejoicing be a continuous roll of glory until Jesus fetches us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
