Seek And You Shall Find

Scripture: Matthew 6 v 31 - 33: "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

We are totally lost without Jesus!  Only He knows the way to the Father for there is no other way.  No matter how long we have known Him as our Saviour we must keep seeking to know more.

We are no longer of this world, it is the place where those who are lost dwell.  We must renew our minds to recover that which we lost when we fell into sin.  We came from Heaven which is our spiritual home and became entangled in the deceptions of this world.

We filled our minds and bodies with things that will corrupt us and lead us to complete separation from God.  It can be compared to a small child being lost in a crowd, separated from its mother, who is frantically searching for her baby.  The mother cannot see where the child is but is guided by the sound of its cries.

When we become separated from God, He is searching to hear that cry.  The moment we know we are truly lost is when we cry out to Him.  And He hears and sends people across our path who know Him and can guide the lost child back to Him.

Like that mother, He does not care how dirty we have become, the joy is in knowing we have been found and brought home.  First the love and reassurance followed by a good clean up and feed.

We need to strengthen our closeness to Jesus to prevent getting lost again, to prevent being sucked back into the norms of the world.  Reading, studying, knowing the Word of God keeps us close, as long as we do what is written in it.  Our relationship with Jesus should be improving all the time.  We should spend quality time with Him and we will reap a rich reward.

During this lockdown due to Covid-19, use the time to search His Word daily for direction and inspiration.  Let us not be ignorant because God says in Hosea, My people perish for lack of knowledge.  Our God is real and He loves us, He wants us close to Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, We know if we seek a closer walk with You we will find depths within You that will continually bless us.  We will grow in grace and be mindful of the lost souls all around us that we should lead back to You.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
