Pleasing God

 Scripture:  Romans 1 v 9 - 12:  "For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

10  Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
11  For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
12  That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me."

Greetings Family and Friends,  forgive my sudden disappearance from this blog but the Lord has sent me to a beautiful rural town in the Western Cape to assist in some way in the fight against Covid 19.  I am at a mission station where there are around thirty people who have mild symptoms and are receiving excellent care.  And prayer.

I frequently exhort people to be active in the work of the Lord, and so I am pleased to please God in being obedient at this time.  I am not in direct contact with the patients but have helped prepare food and a soothing drink for them.

Most especially some of us are praying for the healing power of Jesus to be added to miracles that can end this pandemic.  There is so much fear, panic and confusion causing people to suffer terribly.  Some were concerned about me leaving my home and safe shelter to go into the lion's den, so to speak, and put myself at risk.

It pleased the Lord to send me and as He protected Daniel in the lion's den and there was not a scratch on him, I feel the same protection here.  We must be led of the Lord Jesus to give us what pleases Him in using us in small or large ways to challenge the evil power behind this pandemic.

So I actually have to 'beard the lion in his den', without fear, and challenge his authority with the bigger authority of Jesus Christ.  We must confront evil head on and overcome it in the power He gave us when He ascended to the right hand of the Father.

He gave us His power and authority to conquer demonic strongholds.  This pandemic is a mighty stronghold of Satan, the thief who comes to kill, maim and destroy.  He wants to show God Almighty how powerful he is over the souls on Earth, so it's time that we are about our Father's business to use all He has given us to overthrow evil and occupy His territory till Jesus comes.

Matthew 25 v 29 - 32: "For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:"

In order to be pleasing to God we must not bury our talents out of fear, but use all He has given us to improve ourselves, those around us and clear that evil intruder off the premises.  We must fight the good fight and understand that the devil is no myth, he is a real enemy who has sworn our destruction.

It does not please God when we bury our head in the sand and ignore the danger we are in.  He has given us full access to protection and the spiritual weapons, gifts and ministries to spoil the intentions of the enemy.  If we ignore all this we fall victim to his destructive plans for us and often blame God for the problems we find ourselves in.

We have wonderful hospitals, doctors, nurses and others who have gone the extra mile many times to restore people to health.  We are tremendously grateful for what they do.  However, we can help lift their burdens by intelligent prayer.  We cannot just pray God bless doctors and nurses and patients Amen.

We need to ask Him to show us what corner of the tapestry can we be busy with.  Show us the need Lord, and how to pray about it, and we will not stop until our little patch receives Your approval.  And then we will seek another area to deal with.  Father increase our abilities to meet this need.  Teach us Your ways O Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, We want to please You in everything we do.  Clean us of any thoughts, deeds or words that are contrary to Your will for us.  Open our eyes to see how we can help to fight against the enemy of our souls.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
