Scripture: Revelation 1 v 17 - 18: "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."There is great popularity in Charismatic churches for the experience of being slain in the Spirit. It really caught on during the ministry of Kathrine Kuhlmann, and her protege Benny Hinn, and spread rapidly from there.
When Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane by the guards this is what occurred when He said, Who are you looking for?
John 18 v 5 - 6: "They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground."
In Acts when Paul encountered Jesus after His resurrection and ascension, he too fell to the ground. In my recent blog "The Pre-Incarnate Jesus", the same thing happened to Daniel. It was not an angel as some say, because in Daniel chapter 9, he is very comfortable talking to Gabriel the Archangel, no emotional reactions at all. Not once did Paul ever say that we should have a general experience of being slain in the Spirit.
The word slain comes from the root word "to slay" which means to kill. When you are slain you are dead, murdered, killed. When the true power of Jesus comes upon you, you may fall to the ground in a faint, or seem dead for a moment, but on each occasion they were soon conscious again.
One of the main features of the Toronto Blessing phenomenon, or Catch the Fire meetings, is being slain in the Spirit. Unfortunately, this seems to be true. A comparison of the manifestations occurring in Catch the Fire meetings with those of Hinduism is very similar if not identical.
You may have heard of Kundalini Yoga, and also know that Yoga is part of Hindu religious rituals. They say that it is simply exercises but that is not true. Every pose in yoga is part of a system of worship to their gods. The Kundalini is a very powerful ruling spirit in the Satanic Occult realm. He is located in the human body at base of the spine. Special occult breathing exercises are needed to raise it up the spine to connect with another occult ruling spirit in the brain, called Rege.
When Rege and Kundalini link up amazing feats in martial arts and occult manifestations occur. In Kung Fu the people possessed by these demons can run up walls, be exceedingly strong, kill their opponents in seconds, move their hands and feet at very high speed. They can levitate and have out of body experiences, which are highly dangerous.
People who participate in the Toronto Blessing meetings come under these very same demonic influences but believe it is being right with God. Do you think that it is right to laugh like a maniac for hours, scream, roar, howl like a wolf, slither on the floor hissing like a snake, and when sexual perversions are blatantly performed, and say this is acceptable to God?
In the Todd Bentley meetings in the USA, he punches people in the head and they are slain in the Spirit. He also has the infamous Angel Emma who sprinkles gold dust, gems and whatever on the congregation. This man has had to be disciplined a number of times by Charismatic pastors for abuse of drugs, alcohol and sexual affairs. They still bring him back for more as he is the best in the business.
When I first heard about Toronto Blessing ministries in the early 90's, I had a check in my spirit. I ask the Lord for His opinion and so fast did a scripture come to mind that I was quite shocked. Acts 27 v 10: "And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives."
Jesus explained: This voyage meant the Toronto Blessing, that it would cause much hurt and damage, not only the the church and congregations, but of people's lives.
When the originator of it, Rodney Howard Browne, was asked about the laughing madness and other manifestations, he said, Whether it be of God or the Devil, at least something is happening. If this sounds like true Christianity, you be the judge.
In our ministry to people who have been severely compromised by Toronto, we have always had to deal with the Kundalini and Rege plus some strange manifestations of schizophrenia. Whenever they were slain in spirit it went on for a few hours. We were shown that the Devil did not mind removing 3 or 4 demons and replacing them with one strong one.
This exchange included demons like suicide, homosexuality, paedophilia, murder, sexual affairs, adultery, rape and so on. The people in charge of Toronto, where it first began, spread it across the world saying that this is the Revival we have been waiting for. It is not! It has been shown to cause massive division in churches, as well as zero anointing, less and less Bible Study and preaching, many tragedies which are supposedly overcome by manic laughter. And it all starts with being slain in the spirit!
In churches where being slain in spirit is a common experience, helpers with sheets stand ready to cover the legs of women with sheets to guard their modesty. How would our righteous God compromise a woman's modesty in such a way?
I remember being in a house meeting where one woman was moving around touching people who would go down under the spirit. I felt very determined not to be influenced like that and prayed for help. As she approached me with her arm outstretched but not touching me, without a word she went backwards to the floor. Jesus protected me from something He does not approve of.

Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my eyes to this false experience that I have had. Forgive me for being wrong about this. I reject everything that came upon me while slain in the spirit or going down under the power. Bring me back to the true life in the Holy Spirit. I bind any demons sent to possess, oppress or depress me and command the to go from me. Protect and cleanse me with the Blood of the Lamb, in Jesus' name. Amen.
