The Sons of God

Scripture: John 1 v 10 - 13: "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

Romans 8 v 14; 19:  "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
19  "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God."

We know that Jesus was known as both Son of God and Son of Man, and He was also the firstfruits of the new creation.  When we are born again, baptized in water and then in the Holy Spirit, we are saved and known to God as part of the new creation.

Jesus is therefore the prototype that God the Father is changing us into with our full co-operation.  We are members of His Body and although we have been twisted out of shape by Satan, He took on all the things that caused our imperfections and defeated them.

So why does Paul say in Romans that the whole of creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God?  What is different about them?  My thoughts went back to Matthew 27 v 50 - 54:
"Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52  And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53  And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54  Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

Who were these people who came alive out of their graves after Jesus's resurrection?  The saints of old!  Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Elisha, David, Samuel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, and thousands more who had been waiting in Paradise, or Abraham's Bosom, a compartment of Hell where the believers were kept until the power of Satan and sin was broken.

Many people saw them but very little is known about this amazing event.  It is proof of life after death and eternity.  Will God bring these Sons of God back in these last days to get us over the line, and help the Jews through the Great Tribulation?

There are two portions of scripture that tell us that the resurrected Jesus took these famous saints of old to His Father and then returned to Earth. John 20 v 15 - 17:  "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16  Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17  Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God."

Mary Magdalene, out of whom Jesus cast 7 demons, was coming to anoint His Body to embalming it.  She was shocked by the empty tomb and saw a man she thought was the gardener.  That same night Jesus appeared in the midst of His disciples.

Ephesians 4 v 8 - 10:  "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)"
Jesus led captivity captive.......He released the saints of old from where they had waited and took them home to His Father.  On their way through Earth they were manifested in their flesh and wandered about Jerusalem being seen by many.

Matthew 11 v 12 - 14: "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13  For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14  And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15  He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Jesus said in this passage that John the Baptist was Elijah!   Then Moses and Elijah appeared with Him on the Mount of Transfiguration.  Strangely, Elijah went to Heaven in the chariots of God, so he never died, nor was the body of Moses ever found after he died within sight of the Promised Land.

Jesus has set a legal precedent in the Earth that can be used again.  There are the two prophets of Revelation 11 who can bring down the wrath of God just before the Rapture.  It is assumed that they will be a return of Moses and Elijah.

However, there is nothing stopping Jesus sending all those resurrected saints between now and then to do mighty things to unify the invisible body of Christ.  They may even now be living amongst us waiting for the signal to take on their proper manifestation!  Like a sleeper agent waiting for that one sound in a telephone call that awakens his true nature and mission.

We are living in strange and exciting times and seeing our God shake the nations as powerful men are toppled in moments, and alliances are shifting.  There is great uncertainty about the future when finances are unstable and promises are so easily broken.  We are observing the state of the world that is almost out of control of mankind.

All the signs Jesus said in Matthew 24 would appear before His return to Earth are happening or have already happened.  Climate change, plagues, anarchy, are the combined protests of all creation groaning for their only hope, the appearance of the Sons of God, followed by THE Son of God Himself.

We all truly need the manifestation of the Sons of God to bring sanity, clarity, stability to those who follow Jesus, and to show those in the world who want to take their place in the Body of Christ, how to do so.  They will prepare us, revive us, inspire and ignite us.  They will be an open show of God's power and many who never believed in God will be convinced.  They will be the anointed ones who fuel the world revival and the global outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  What a time of rejoicing that will be!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we groan within ourselves to see You in Your Glory and to see the Sons of God manifest the power of Heaven on Earth.  We want to shine for You in the darkness of this world and be a light for the repentant rebels to find their way home.  We love You Father, and we pray that You hear our cries. In Jesus' name. Amen.
