Scriptures: Deuteronomy 28 v 7: “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways."
Luke 8 v 28 - 32: "When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name?And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them."
Some people think that Jesus and the devil are always confronting and fighting each other. But when I read my Bible, I don’t see fights between the two. What I see is the devil having to flee whenever he encounters Jesus! Even when Jesus fasted 40 days and was confronted by Satan in the Wilderness, He defeated him by the power in the Word of God.
Consider the demoniac from the country of the Gadarenes. The demons in the man begged Jesus not to torment them or send them into the abyss, but to permit them to stay in that place. Jesus sent them into a herd of swine who did what the Legion of demons was trying to do to the demoniac. Commit suicide. Thereafter the man was clothed and in his right mind.
You see, neither the devil nor his demons can stand before Jesus. They may be able to torment people for a while, but when Jesus comes on the scene, they know that they have to leave. There is no fellowship between light and darkness; good and evil; Jesus and Satan. They will have to flee!
All it took was just one word from Jesus, and the entire legion of demons, a Roman legion consisted of between 6000 - 10000 soldiers, had to come out of the man and flee into the swine.
As a child of God, you exude a spiritual fragrance which evil spirits can detect and which causes them to tremble. It is the life and light of Jesus inside you. And He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4). Some people think that demons don't exist today in our modern sophisticated world. They do, and their favourite lie is that they are a mere myth, a comic book ghost, nothing to fear.
When a demon sees you filled with the Holy Spirit, he cannot distinguish between you and Jesus. All he sees is the Light that destroyed the power of all demons as Jesus in you shines forth. Satan is a defeated foe and all he has in his bag of tricks is bluff. But he is very good at conning people.
Colossians 2 v 13 - 15: "And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."
After His death, Jesus went down to Abraham's bosom or Paradise, all believers were kept there until His resurrection. The last one in was the thief on the Cross. Jesus told him, This day you will be with Me in Paradise. Jesus took on Satan and his demons in front of everybody. He turned them into a laughing stock.
This triumph was turned into Jesus giving us His authority to deal with them like He did. I had on the spot training when I needed it most. A demon-possessed woman was sent into my home by my pastor. The Holy Spirit gave me discernments of spirits, word of knowledge, Faith, gifts of the Spirit that enabled me to go from utter ignorance of demons to spiritual warrior in an instant.
With "awake now from sleep for Christ has given you light" ringing in my ears I was able to get to grips with these demons. There was a small group of us that got together daily with her and we all learned a lot from that encounter. This started at the end of 1979 and some of the warriors involved in this deliverance will be reminded of it when they read this blog today.
Four years later the Lord called me to start an Intercessory ministry, the Church of Philadelphia (Revelations 3) which is still going today. I bless and thank those who were present at the beginning and have stayed the distance, plus those added by the Lord over the years. Your love and support and endurance are truly God-given.
Satan can scare you with symptoms of horrible diseases. If you start to fear and worry he adds more pain and misery. Your unsaved doctor is also under his control and he diagnoses and confirms your fears. In Job it says that which you greatly fear shall come upon you. So when you get nasty symptoms, return them to sender and rather believe God's Word which says by the stripes of Jesus you are healed.
I have personally had symptoms of many deadly diseases but I always put Jesus first and trusted Him. About twenty years ago a GP was convinced I was in the final stages of cancer. I had a list of appointments to get necessary tests and confirmations. I had no money nor medical aid to pay for them. I trusted Jesus, and if it was the end I was happy to go Home. A few months later I ran into that GP in a grocery store. He was truly shocked to see me alive and well.
Faith frightens Satan. He can bluff with the symptoms, but if you call his bluff he flees taking whatever demons he was deploying upon you with him. As an Intercessor most often it's taking on the burdens of others that cause symptoms to appear on us. We pray them through, most often never knowing who has the need, and when our pain or whatever subsides, Jesus sets the real sufferer free.
That is why no curse, spell, disease, accusation, scandal or destruction planned against you can succeed. Your enemies may come against you one way, but when you submit to God and resist the devil he will flee.
The Lord will confuse them and cause them to flee before you seven ways when you declare your faith and make your stand. If you doubt and fear then you will need medical assistance. If you are not fully submitted to Jesus, the enemy will find that weakness and grind your faith down.
Isaiah 54 v 17: "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."
We must be proactive with the Lord as Jesus paid with His life to give you this victory over your enemies. So put on the whole armour of God, and resist the enemy to see your symptoms disappear. All things are possible to those who believe.
After His arrest in the garden of Gethsemane, the Jews and Gentiles were united for the first time with one common objective: Torture Jesus and have Him killed. King Herod of the Jews and Pontius Pilate of the Romans were long-time enemies, but because of Jesus, they became friends. (Luke 23:12).
My friend, Jesus’ enemies were united and had “victory” over Him. But because He triumphed over them through the Cross and rose again, today, your enemies will be scattered and you will have victory over them!
1 Corinthians 2 v 7 - 8: "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."
Your enemies will flee because like the princes of this world, ruling demon spirits over the nations, they don't know the hidden wisdom and mysteries of God. They did not factor into their victory party the Resurrection of Jesus! If they had a clue they would never have crucified Him! Now they cower, cringe and bluster before they flee back into darkness. Keep walking in the Light and they will stay away.
Prayer: Heavenly Father we have been accustomed to consulting doctors and specialists to have our fears confirmed before we pray and resist our enemy. We need to renew our minds according to Your Word to have continuous victory over illness, financial problems, bad government, motor accidents, being burgled, mugged or any other scheme of the enemy to destroy our faith. Father, teach us to know just how powerful You are on behalf of Your children. In Jesus' name. Amen.
