Scripture: James 1 v 5 - 8: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
The simple solution to acquiring wisdom is to ask God for it who will generously give to serious seekers. This means we must know what we will do with wisdom when we have it.
God's wisdom can only be received by strong faith and without doubt, fear, uncertainty, as that would indicate our lack of confidence in Him. The days of "putting out a fleece" as Gideon did in the book of Judges, are very Old Testament. He needed wisdom about an upcoming battle and asked if he put a fleece out in the rain and it didn't get wet then he was taking the right advice.
Today we have the Holy Spirit who conveys our prayers to the Throne of Grace and through His priceless gifts, speedily has answers for us. If we use the gift of tongues, its even faster.
However, if we waver, second guess, or consult a bunch of advisers, we will wait a long time to hear God's opinion. He says those who do such things are unstable, or double-minded. Finally, psychiatry is catching up with the Bible. They call double-minded, bipolar!
This is the trendy name for schizophrenia, which is truly a nest of ten demonic spirits that wreak havoc in the sufferer's life. The main two ruling spirits over this severe mental disorder are Rebellion and Rejection. The person can be seriously aggressive and a whimpering wreck all in the space of minutes, as the demons play turn and turn about.
The best description of how to wisely deal with this disorder was not in any medical journal but in a fascinating handbook on Deliverance called "Pigs in the Parlour". It's an old book but it was created in wisdom and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
It helped me understand so much about how demons torment people relentlessly to destroy their personalities, or turn them into utterly evil murderers, rapists, despots, warmongers, or drive people insane. Dementia simply means demons in control of the mind. If people only knew that the afflicted can be helped by Christians who use their God-given authority to deal with demons.
I know I say these things a lot but its because I was bound by spirits and set free by Jesus. I made it my business to seek the Lord to know everything I could about demons so I could help others. We are kept in the dark even in the Church, about the very existence of demons. How can we overcome evil when we are completely ignorant about them.
This is why Christians backslide. They do not know how to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. Phillippians 2 v 12 - 15: "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;"
This is the first real wisdom I ever received. I treasure it to this day because if you think this generation is "woke" they are far behind those who are "awake". Ephesians 5 v 14: "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." This was the beginning of my spiritual life.
When we are ignorant its like being dead. Totally unconscious of things of the Spirit. Like the servant of Elisha. 2 Kings 6 v 16 - 17: "And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
If our eyes were open we would have no fear of the enemy around us or even within us. The power of God surrounds us and when we walk in faith, His wisdom shows us how to overcome the world. We need this wisdom in these last days to meet the challenges we see coming.
Our God has made a way of escape for us and we need to see through His eyes that secret path that is ours alone. The closer we get to Jesus the closer we get to true wisdom. It is pure and undefiled, and through it we are completely secure. He protects, He provides, He purposes to outwit the wiles of Satan because we have on the full armour if God.
David, the shepherd boy who defeated Goliath, had God's invisible armour on. It fooled the giant who saw a youngster without experience. David didn't need much to win the battle, just the wisdom of God.
When we wear the invisible armour, Satan has the same foolish thoughts as Goliath did. Pride is his downfall, humility is our victory. The whole Bible is packed with wisdom, the more we read, study and apply its truth, the greater our knowledge will be.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, the more we know You the more we love and worship You in Spirit and in truth. We ask for Your wisdom to enhance this blog today that we may know our enemy and use our 'slingshot' to bring him down. Thank You for all Your mighty blessings. In Jesus' name. Amen.
