Why We Keep The Passover

Scripture:  Mark 14 v 14 - 16: "And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
15  And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
16  And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover."

1 Corinthians 5 v 7 - 8: "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."

In the past few days there have been many comments on social media concerning Christians keeping the feast of Passover.  They say its a feast of the Jews and therefore for them only.

Jesus sent some of His disciples to find a room where they could prepare the Passover.  It was The Last Supper that He would have with them.  It was the institution of Communion, breaking bread as a memorial of His broken body.  The red wine was symbolic of His Blood for the forgiveness of sin.

Rome controlled Israel, or Palestine, for centuries and eventually the Church of Rome became the Roman Catholic Church with their own translation of the original manuscripts of the Bible.  In their tradition, with 'cast in stone add ons', Mary became Co-Redeemer with Jesus Christ.  The Roman Pope became head of the universal church.  Mary was assumed into Heaven.  Purgatory became a thing.

The feast of Passover became Easter after the Roman goddess Oestre, hence chicks, eggs, bunnies to bless the Fertility goddess.  Nothing wrong with chocolate eggs but they are not to be linked to the Resurrection of our Saviour.  Children grow up confused as its seldom explained correctly.  The debauched feast of Saturnalia became Christmas, which day is not the birthday of Jesus, but of Nimrod now known as Baal.

His mother, Semiramis, bore him on 25th December.  The Roman Church blended the Babylonian gods with Christianity.  Semiramis declared Nimrod to be a god named Baal.  She then married him so she could be a goddess.  This whole story was then imposed on Jesus and Mary.  Mother and child.  If you read The Two Babylons you will know the truth.

We live in an age of fake news rules, but it started long ago, in an age where there was no Google.  There was no expectation of these false insertions into Christianity.  This is why we need to get back to the Bible, back to the faith of the early Church.

One of the ways that uplifted us back to truth is doing the Christian version of the Passover Seder.  The Jews have no idea of how much of Jesus is in this Feast.  Even the Matzos is striped and pierced, just as He was.  By these stripes we are healed is better than the Easter eggs.

Zechariah 12 v 9 - 10: "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

Do you know that the very stable and field where Jesus was born was for the spotless lambs selected for Passover?  Perhaps His real birth date is more in line with April.  We are not told exactly when so we can celebrate His life every day of the year.

In the Jewish week of Passover there are two feast days one after the other.  The first day of Passover is the Seder feast, the Last Supper, remembering the escape from Egypt.  The second day of Passover is the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  This is a reminder of the speed of their leaving Egypt.  The dough had not had leaven or yeast added so it could not rise.  The bread was flat and hard.  This feast lasts for 7 days.

Leaven, as Paul says, is sin.  That's why only the sinless lamb could be sacrificed for us.  He is our Passover from death to life, from Hell to Heaven, from sinners to saints.  So do not be afraid to do Passover, it is truly beneficial to our walk with the Lord.

Paul says Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us and we should keep this Feast.  He was a Roman, a Pharisee, with great knowledge of the Law.  When he met Jesus and was saved he was completely transformed.  He still thought Passover was good for us to do.  It's not a command.  We can all choose.  But for me and my house we choose more of Jesus less of tradition.

Matthew 15 v 3 - 9: "But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4  For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5  But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6  And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7  Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

We do not want to be entangled with vain worship, the doctrines of man, and twist the words of scripture to suit our point of view.  Jesus is truth and any thing that injures that truth injures us.  He said we must walk the strait and narrow path to find life in Him.  It means elimination of those things that are false and rather holding fast to truth.

It's hard for me to go against cherished beliefs of anybody.  My heart is very soft.  However sharing truth with you all in these blogs is doing God's will.  I cannot make anyone accept what I write but the Holy Spirit will be the after preacher and He will confirm it to your hearts if you pray.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father obedience is better than sacrifice and I ask You to bless those who read these words with understanding truth against error.  Thank You for opening my eyes to truth so I may come closer to You.  May the anointing of the Holy Spirit flow over every heart.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
