Scripture: Revelation 3 v 7 -8: "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name."
Isaiah 22 v 21 -22: "And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open."
We are instructed in Thessalonians to pray without ceasing. This can only be done spiritually, impossible to do it in the flesh. Intercessors spend much time praying for whatever the Holy Spirit brings to their attention.
In my private fellowship with the Lord there was a certain word given that was an instruction to be obeyed without question, then the word 'David' would be in the scripture verse. The day when I was praying for direction the Lord told me to pray for Philadelphia. It took about two hours before I remembered there was a mention of Philadelphia in Revelation 3.
So I found the verse about the church of Philadelphia and as I read it the key of David phrase impacted on me! I was so shocked I called a prayer partner to help me understand what the Lord wanted me to do. I did know but it was my Jonah moment. Run the other way!! She said she had been waiting for the Holy Spirit to call me into the ministry.
I fiercely objected to the Lord as being unworthy, untrained, attending a church where the pastor and my husband persecuted me but I had to submit. The Lord gave me 1 John 2 v 27: "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." This was when I realised He meant it.
That same night my 7 year old son was celebrating his birthday. He had been anointed to see visions very clearly among other things. That night he saw Jesus put a small wooden box in my hands. He said I must open it so I made a motion of opening the box. He said there is a beautiful old-fashioned golden key inside. Jesus says it opens and closes everything and it is yours.
My cup was running over that night as I received the anointing to be an Intercessor from Jesus Himself. So began my incredible journey that has lasted over forty years to discover the treasures of the Lord and walk in places that are deep. The Key of David has opened the Word of God to a deeper understanding and closed doors in my soul that interfered with my obedience to Him.
This key opened a door to firstly reach Karen Ann in her long coma back in 1984. We were in South Africa, 12,000 miles away from her, but were able to talk to her and lead her to Jesus. She had never asked for healing, but just for the ability to communicate with people, and she got us! We were sharing with her every day and there were times when she saw visions or asked for prayer for other people in coma she could suddenly communicate with. She passed away in June 1985 and the scripture given at that moment said she was walking and leaping and praising God.
Through this ministry to Karen Ann, Jesus opened doors to people who are inaccessible and unreachable - Christians in jails in countries that oppose the gospel of Jesus Christ - we pray for them and they hear us in Spirit, we play gospel songs for them to uplift and strengthen them. The Key of David is used by God to release them back to their families.
We get a warning from the Holy Spirit when the church universal is under attack and we close the doors with the Key of David to block and protect it. The same for Israel surrounded by her enemies. The Key is used for her protection too.
Every now and then it gets confirmed like when the Palestinians in Gaza were firing hundred of missiles into Israel, one of the Hamas terrorists complained that the God of the Jews was causing those missiles to malfunction and turn to hit targets inside Gaza! The doors to attack Israel were closed to them! The Israelis would also lock the gates in the wall between Gaza and Israel. Nothing in and nothing out.
We can only use the Key of David as the Lord directs, and the devil is not able to resist it. I am hoping one day to be able to give it to the Angel over the Abyss to lock him up for 1000 years!
The ministry to Karen Ann remains the highlight of every experience I have had on my journey, and it was through the anointing of the Key of David that it happened. It opened the door to the spiritual state of coma that had never been opened before. People who did not know me, or anything about my coma ministry to Karen, would tell me in prayer meetings that they could hear a voice asking for help as they were in a coma! Then we could pray for them and talk back to them.
Sometimes they are not in a coma but are kidnapped for long years and after praying and ministering to them they had the opportunity to be released. The awful kidnapping and incest that Josef Fritzl inflicted on his daughter Elisabeth for almost twenty years was one I remember clearly. She had six children and I had no clue who she was or where I was aware of her desperate situation.
Suddenly her eldest daughter fell into a coma and Josef was forced to take her to hospital. There were no records of her existence! He was arrested and made to show the police where she came from. They went through seven padlocked doors to reach the basement and found Elisabeth and her children and set them free. Praise the name of Jesus!
Jesus calls it my Royal Telephone after the gospel song by the late John Starnes. The Lord once did an awesome acknowledgment of the Key of David and that song!
I was led to attend a church meeting in a tent one Sunday where American gospel singer, Joe Garlington, was leading worship. After a few songs the Lord told me to sit. So I sat, and the song was Royal Telephone! Suddenly, the congregation started applauding in middle of the song as if some famous person had come on stage. I wanted to get up to see who it was, but Jesus said sit in your place, this song is for you, because everyone here has been blessed in some way over the years of your coma ministry! It's My way of letting them say thanks. How humbling it is to find that hundreds of hours of prayer and intercession to many unknown people is rewarded by the Lord in this unique way. They never knew it was me sitting there either, it was a moment I will never forget.
This is how your faith grows strongly and all doubts disappear. And who knows what special key or other anointing the Lord has for you? Ask, and it shall be given, seek, and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened.
Nothing comes without some effort on your part, so if you really want to reach the height and depths and breadths of God's calling on your life you need to shed everything that will block your efforts. The devil will fling everything to cause you to flee back into the pews, but overcome it and be determined to live godly in Christ Jesus. He will not ignore you. He may give you a city to pray for and turn it into a ministry to suit His purposes. Just strap yourself in and enjoy the ride!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I love You! Thank You for the Key of David, as well as the Philadelphia Prayer Ministry, the wonderful team of intercessors, and all that You have used it to achieve, more than I can know or think. The glory is Yours alone as You initiate and control every part of this work. I pray for the readers to reach their full potential, to receive Your gifts and anointing, to make the end times explode with Your power and might. In Jesus' name. Amen.
