Scripture: 1 Samuel 2 v 1 -3: "And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
3 Talk no more exceedingly proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed."
This was the prayer Hannah prayed when she gave her only son, Samuel, to the Lord after he was weaned. Her desire for a child was so strong, she had prayed for years for this baby, and the Lord heard her prayer. She was so blessed by Him that she literally gave her son back to the Lord, taking him to the priest and leaving him there.
This child's name was Samuel, who became one of the great prophets of the Old Testament. He was the Prophet who anointed King Saul as the first king of Israel. The Jews demanded a king like the other nations and rejected God as sovereign over Israel. When Saul became too violent Samuel found David and told him he would be the next king.
Samuel was also one of three Nazarites, who never had a haircut or shave, nor touched any form of liquor. The other two were Samson and John the Baptist. All three were mighty men of God.
The conception of Samson:
Judges 13 v 3 - 5: "And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
4 Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."
Samson was brought down by a woman, a Philistine from Gaza. She begged him to tell her where he got his impressive strength. He told her it came from never having cut his hair. While he slept she snipped off all his locks of hair. When he awoke the Philistines were able to capture him. They kept him in their temple not realising his hair was growing again. When there were about a thousand people around him he used his renewed strength to pull down the pillars of the temple and they were all crushed. Israel rejoiced!
Many mothers have had the prayer of Hannah answered and become joyful in having children. Those that are dedicated back to the Lord have such a blessed life. I prayed this prayer and was given two beautiful sons, who have blessed me over and over throughout their lives.
Their early years were absolutely priceless as they preferred to pray together with me than play with their friends. Not for a week nor a month but for many years! Sean was ten years old and Steve five when this ministry began. The full power of the Holy Spirit, all His gifts, great depths of those gifts, visions, words of knowledge, prophetic words were abundant.
We had such adventures with Jesus that it was not a duty to pray but a time of joy and revelation, as well as seeing God answer in some very miraculous ways. He knows how to keep children entertained and amused. He knew how to teach this Mom through her children.
So worship the Lord and give Him your children. Teach them to walk in His ways and you will see them grow into wonderful men and women who will bless Jesus always. They will be a true treasure to any Mother.
Proverbs 31 v 10 - 31: Solomon's Ode to Women
"10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of children. It makes Mother's Day very special when they respond with love and grace. We pray Your blessing Lord upon all Mothers today and thank them for all they do for their children. Lord be with them everyday and bless their husbands, and their precious children too. In Jesus' name. Amen.
