Scripture: Matthew 7 v 13: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat."
James 4 v 4: "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
Not everyone understands what "the world" actually is. They sing beautiful songs like 'We are the world, we are the children' unaware that "the world" is not "The Earth our planet"! However it is the people who do not know Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ, who are caught up in a system that is ruled by Satan. That system is the world of sin and sinners.
We were born in sin! What does this actually mean? It means that before we were conceived in our mother's womb we were already condemned to die. God had a very complex plan of rescuing every soul by creating mankind to assess the damage done to us when Satan held us hostage. We are experiencing the reality of it through the hostage drama in Gaza. Abused, sick, traumatized, weak people who have been tortured.
He hoped the first couple in Eden would be receptive to the love, beauty, wisdom but He gave them a choice to assess their faithfulness. It was a dismal failure. In the first 1000 years only one family proved righteous. He had to preserve them and wipe out all others. Start over. Shorten man's lifespan to 70 years as He knew that sin and demons became uncontrollable the longer man lived.
From Noah's family line came all the patriarchs of Israel from which Jesus would one day be born to break the stronghold of sin and death for every soul. There was an amazing link between Noah and Jesus. It is called Nisan 17. The date on which Noah's Ark landed on the mountains of Ararat in modern day Turkey, marking the end of the Flood. It is also the date on which Jesus was resurrected from death carrying our souls within Himself to set us free of sin. Rescue us from the world.
The world system is full of religion, laws, conditions, rules, ambition, control, leadership, systems, selfishness, corruption, greed, lust, adultery, treason, pornography, paedophilia, sin and all its consequences. Jesus does not want His people to have friendship with the world. He wants us to fellowship with our Christian family and be so full of love and peace that we will attract the worldly people to follow Him.
Israel made a terrible declaration that affects every Jew in Matthew 27 v 23 - 25: " And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children."
Israel rejected Jesus Christ their Messiah and declared themselves guilty of His death for all generations. It caused the Father to turn His face away from Israel for "a short while" which turned out to be 1900 years. Or on His calendar nearly 2 days, 1000 years is one day and He allotted 6 days to get the whole mess cleaned up. The mess that started with Adam. Do not seek to become an enemy of God.
Christianity is not a religion. It is a conscious individual choice to follow Jesus Christ and obey God's will to reach out to those who are sick of the world and want to live a pure, clean, honest and humble life. It is possible to live a sin-free life. Jesus showed us how.
Galatians 5 v 19 - 23: "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
In the verses above, Paul highlights the sinful works of the flesh, in vv 19 - 21; and contrasts with the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians. Verse 22 - 23 is the nature of Jesus Christ, which we need if we are being changed into His likeness.
The world mocks Christians as wimps needing a crutch while they get drunk and beat their wives to show how manly they are. Jesus says in John 15 that we must not be amazed if the world hates us who follow Him, because it hated Him first. Why does the world hate Him? Because He exposed their sin.
Consider the woman caught in adultery about to be stoned. If she was caught in the act, where was the man? And why wasn't he being stoned with her? Perhaps when Jesus wrote in the sand it was the names of all those men who had committed adultery standing with rocks in their hands to kill her. They feared and hated Jesus for knowing their evil hearts. They could live their worldly lives more comfortably if He were dead.
Christians who are filled with the Holy Spirit have the same effect on sinners as Jesus had. Sinners feel very uncomfortable around saints. The Holy Spirit within us convicts them without a spiritual word being spoken. He disturbs them and they reject us for shining a light into their dark hearts.
In 2 Corinthians 6 v 14 we learn: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?"
To be unequally yoked is like trying to pull a cart with a donkey and a horse yoked together. One plods one races. Christians should only marry Christians. Christians should not stand proxy for anyone's debts. Christians should be wary of business partnerships with worldly people. They may be good friends but the spiritual difference will surface sometime and create problems. The worldly partner may run off with all the profits, and ruin the business and friendship. It happens a lot.
Christians need to become familiar with the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to help us discern truth from error. Whenever our pride leads us to lean on our own understanding we are prone to make mistakes in judgment. When we pray for guidance and are led by the Holy Spirit of Truth, everything will work out very well.
The world consists of those who choose to be full of the flesh ie self. Self image; self-willed; self-righteous; selfish; self-centred etc. They are ruled by an unseen and largely unknown being, whom Jesus called Satan, the god of this world. While they submit to the lies, deception and evil of Satan they will hate the goodness and honesty of Jesus and His followers.
Our Father says come out from among them and separate yourselves to Me and I will protect you from harm. The world says do your own thing, kill, steal, kidnap, rape and destroy until you get your way. You have a free will to choose your own destiny. However, you should read the fine print called consequences and final destination.
As the world system lines up in things like G7, G20, United Nations, Global Peacekeepers, Interfaith, Anti-Semitism, AntiChristian laws, Sharia Law of Islam, global fight against climate change, the consolidation of the One World Government under Satan grows stronger every day. When it brings severe pressure on Christians the Rapture will come. By the looks of things it can't be far off now. The Jews must wait a little longer. Hands up if you know who the False Prophet linked to The Antichrist really is! The fanatical followers of Mohammed! Following the Mahdi. All those siding with the Palestinians are now the enemies of God. It's called friendship with the world.
Our Father loves us and has made every provision for His prodigal children to return home to the feast He has prepared. Not everyone does. It is up to each individual to make the right choices that show our Father we are fit for Heaven.
Romans 5 v 8 - 10: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
We are instructed to love our enemies and pray for them, because while we were still enemies of God, Jesus died to reconcile us to the Father.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we strayed and fell into horrible sins but You sent Jesus to rescue us and bring us back to Your lovingkindness. We thank You for saving our souls. Help us to reach those who are still lost in the wilderness of sin. Let Your light shine through us so they can see the way back to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
