Scripture: Revelations 21 v 10 -27; Revelations 22 v 1 -
5; 2 Corinthians 5 v 1 - 10.
Over the past week I have not had much opportunity to
share with you as all my time and attention was for my dear friend Robin who
was preparing to leave for her eternal home in Heaven.
We all knew that the cancer was far advanced, but we were
given to understand that she still had a few months of life before it claimed
her. Who knew that it was just one week?
The Lord revealed many things to help us deal with the
sudden, irreversible deterioration in the quality of her final days. One of the
most profound was this song "The River" which she would listen to and
even try to sing along with, over and over again.
It would bring tears to our eyes as we would sing with
her - "He is waiting at the River and He longs to meet you there." We
could feel the presence of Jesus surrounding us all as we prayed and read
passages of scripture and listened to this and other songs.
The Bible says when we leave our mortal bodies with our
last breath that we are immediately present with the Lord. There is no
intermediate place, like purgatory, for sins to be dealt with. We must be
cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb while we are still alive in our fleshly bodies.
We never know exactly when our final moment will be so
its important that we are always in a state of readiness to meet our Maker.
Have a listen to the words of this beautiful song and if you have not made a
commitment to Jesus yet, take this opportunity to meet Him now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for taking Robin to
Your heavenly home where her mansion was waiting for her on a street of pure
gold. Take our hand Lord and lead us closer as we long to meet You there. In
Jesus' name. Amen.
