He Was Bruised for US

Scripture:

Isaiah 53 v 10: "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him....."

Luke 4 v 18: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted; .......to set at liberty them who are bruised."

Have you noticed when you have a bruise on your body, you seem to knock that bruise over and over? Well, an emotional bruise is just the same. When you are bruised it keeps being hit.

An emotional bruise can be rejection, feelings of unworthiness, and a lack of love. This type of bruise attracts more of the same and can lead to despair and suicide. The world sees a bruised person as someone with issues; Jesus sees this person as needing to be liberated.

Your soul consists of your emotions, your intellect and your will. All the internal problems you may have stem from these three areas.

Even if you are physically challenged, the bruising is in the soul.

Mental bruising comes from people who, from an early age, belittle and confuse you. When a parent or teacher tell you "You will never amount to anything" your life becomes a struggle - either a stepping stone to prove them wrong, resulting in pride and rebellion; or a crushing stone that keeps you under performing all your life.

The bruising of your will occurs when you are "caged" by a lack of physical or mental stimulation; where your opinions don't matter; where you are blocked from exploring your world from an early age. It causes a person to be fearful of change and oppressed. This type of challenge produces someone who is constantly negative and depressed or a person who goes to manic extremes to "break free".

Jesus came to set at liberty them that are bruised in these ways. He never made you to be caged, warped, rejected, oppressed or challenged. He made you in His image and likeness. The people who bruised you did it in ignorance or reverse psychology that backfired on you.

Bring your bruises to Jesus and ask Him to set you at liberty from them. Recognise them for what they are and forgive those who bruised you. Allow Jesus to fill your soul with His healing balm and restore it to what He always intended for you.

Prayer: Father God, today I know myself better and want to be free of all bruises on my soul. Please set me at liberty. I forgive those who abused my soul. In Jesus' name. Amen.
