Restoring Lost Memories

Restoring Lost Memories

Scripture: 2 Peter 3 v 1: "This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance."

Ecclesiastes 1 v 11: "There is no remembrance of the former things..."

Jeremiah 1 v 5: "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee...."

I have written much about how we were hostages in satan's realm before this world was formed, which is why we are born sinners. How can a holy loving Father create sinful people who immediately betray Him as Adam and Eve did?

The Lord showed me that Genesis was the starting point for mankind in a mammoth rescue operation that would take 6000 years to complete. 1000 years for every unimaginably terrifying day we were satan's captives.

Earth was a place where our afflictions and souls could be visible through our fleshly behaviour. We had originated in Heaven in spirit form; been tormented in Hades which formed our tortured souls; now manifested on earth to be assessed and healed. To prevent madness through the awful memories, the Lord wiped all of our minds of every memory, good or bad.

After we are born again and our minds become pure through the washing of the Word of God, He desires to stir up the good memories by way of  reminding us of Himself and of Heaven. He wants us only to think of good and pleasant things. We are forgiven and set free but we do not realise all the implications.

We need to ask for our memories of Him to be restored. Especially when we take Communion and its said "Do this in remembrance of Me!". He knows we remember His sacrifice very well, so it is other memories that are lost that He wants us to know.

It is through Him restoring memories to me that He was able to reveal that wonderful revelation of how He knew us before this world was formed. And why Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world. And how our recovery from sin and death started with Adam. And how very evil satan was.

He knows we don't know who or what we are, just surviving without realising where we came from. His salvation has restored us to the full stature of being made in His image, which Adam lost when he fell and all mankind fell with him.

He wants us to know that before we were lost He had a personal relationship with us. We were cherished friends, who now suffer amnesia. He wants us to remember Him and is stirring our individual memories to restore our relationship.

It cannot come to cluttered, impure, wavering minds but to those who have cleared their heads of every bad thing and who seek to know Him in His life, ways, truth and holiness.  It takes discipline and single-minded purpose to break through the amnesia, but when you do it is joy unspeakable  and full of glory.

As a member of His Body you have every right to know Him and have fellowship with Him. He wants living, lively, compatible members who will encourage and bless others. Those who refuse to comply He prunes away so their negativity does not infect the joyful ones. In recent months I have noticed this pruning accelerate and I seem to be prevented from reconnecting with those who are pruned.

We are approaching the time when the sheep and goats are separated by God, not man, to await reward or judgment. Everything hinges on our relationship with Jesus. If you are found wanting on the Day of Judgment the last words you will hear from Jesus' mouth are "I never knew you!".

So make it your daily goal to come closer to Jesus through His Word and by increasing your knowledge of Him. Pray for Him to restore the delightful memories of times you shared with Him before this world was formed.

Prayer: Father God, there is so much we don't know, and don't even realise the extent of our ignorance, but You are all knowing. Please clear and purify my mind of all uncleanness so that I can have my memories of my Heavenly home and of You and Jesus restored to me. I am loved, worthy and saved by You, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
