The Secret Place
Scripture: Psalm 91 v 1:
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
When you desire a deeper walk with Jesus Christ you begin to spend more and more time alone with Him, and He so enjoys your intimate fellowship that He brings you into His secret place, where you discover a love beyond any relationship on the purely human level.
Back in the day when Torville and Dean won perfect tens at the Olympics for dancing on ice, I was fascinated by their harmony, musical choice of Bolero and the intimacy of their dance. They wove their intricate moves into jaw-dropping perfection. I remember it so clearly, and the Lord Jesus took note.
The day came when I entered into the Spirit in prayer and worship of Jesus, and suddenly found myself skating with Him on a beautiful ice lake in the softest light surrounded by pastel shades of sky and earth. It is the most tranquil secret place you could ever visit.
I have never been an ice skater but when I am with Jesus in our secret place I skate to Olympic standards! But it's not the skating that I concentrate on, but the wonderful experience of being with Jesus and communicating with Him in such harmony.
The way He held me and led me in this ice dance was breathtaking. It still is. He inspires me to flow with Him and it continues with me even when I am not consciously in that beautiful place. I know that I always abide under His shadow. It is a place of love, protection, friendship and knowledge that is available to those who desire with all their hearts to spend quality time with Him.
He knows when you mean business with Him, and He rewards you by bringing you into precious times of intimacy in the secret place He will make for you. It probably will not be an ice lake (that's taken!), but a place you would know as special. He already has it all picked out for you and is waiting for you to have that longing for a deeper walk with Him.
Don't try to visualize yourself into this secret place as that is not how Jesus does things. He responds to the desire of your heart, your obedience, your true love. He surprises you when you least expect it and blesses your life forever.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the honour of meeting Jesus in our secret place, and every blessing that has brought to my life. I share it today because many are seeking deeper intimacy with God and with Jesus. The joy I have experienced strengthens me in difficult times, and I pray others will enter in to it too. In Jesus' name. Amen.
