Making You Perfect

Scripture: Hebrews 13 v 20 - 21: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 5 v 10: "But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."

James 1 v 4: "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

Our Father, and His Son, Jesus, have one aim with us and that is to make us perfect in every good work. Our aim should be exactly the same.  We want to do that which pleases our Lord Jesus and hear at the end of our journey through life, "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into your rest."

Jesus is working on you every moment of every day - talking to you, talking to God about you, looking for ways to bless you or change you so that you can receive a blessing. Jesus is in a full on relationship with every born again saint but often finds little response from us. We are so busy with our own things and issues that He is forgotten, yet He can sort out our needs and fix our issues if we would only invite Him to do so.

The ultimate perfection is when you are flowing with Jesus spiritually all the time and doing His will rather than your own. When you flow in harmony with Him your life becomes blissful. The cares of the world disappear and you accomplish so much seemingly without effort.  The way to achieve this is through prayer, putting everything in His hands and letting Him be God.

Jesus is our peace and His peace flows within us constantly so we may spread peace around. and those who are troubled will have their burdens lifted by His peace touching their lives. The abundance of peace in a person who is doing God's perfect will speaks louder than many sermons.

No matter how conflicting the world is becoming, the love and peace of Jesus keep us in perfect comfort. Even in the midst of turmoil if you have given Jesus your time and made the changes He wants to see in you, His peace and presence will never leave you. So if you have neglected your relationship with Him and left things undone, today is the day He wants to make you perfect.

Before this perfection is complete we have to suffer a little while says Peter, and James adds that we need to develop patience to achieve it.  Patience is also called longsuffering or enduring trials and problems without complaining.  Those who are of the opinion that they can handle their lives without His help, will never know what they are missing.  Jesus is the sum of perfection and when we yield to His ways that is the fastest way to become like Him.

So all things work together for them who love the Lord, says Paul to the Romans.  We call Jesus our Lord which means we submit to Him in every way.  It must be learnt because for many years we have done our own thing.  Now it takes discipline to set aside time to study the Bible, pray and have sweet fellowship with other believers.  They are easy to find because what or Who is in their heart comes out of their mouths.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to be a pleasing child who adores You.  I lay my life before You and ask You to make me perfect today. Use the power in the Blood of Jesus to change every contrary thing in me so I come into perfect harmony with You. Let Your peace and love flow through me to the lost and sorrowful who need You most. In Jesus' name. Amen.
