Scriptures: Ephesians 6 v 17; Romans 12 v 2.
Our next piece of the Armour of God is the Helmet of
Salvation. This helmet covers every part of the head and face. Our mind is a
vulnerable target for the enemy. I call it the devil's playground. Coupled with
our eyes, our mind is in need of strong protection.
Jesus said it is not what you eat or drink that defiles
you or makes you ill, it is the thoughts that come through your mind that
defiles you. Evil imaginations; fantasies; lusts; lies; murders; slander;
anger; arguments; bitterness; pride; rebellion etc. come from the mind of those
who do not have the control of Jesus within their hearts.
The bad side of the mind is not conquered all at once. In
Romans it says don't be conformed to this world in its way of thinking, its
philosophies and behaviour BUT be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
This is a work together with Jesus to bring unruly mental gymnastics under
control. Talk to Jesus about areas He will highlight to you. He will go at your
pace and help you gain the victory. You will soon discover what is acceptable
to Him.
So put on the Helmet of Salvation and expect the
cleansing of your mind to begin and that you will be protected from mental
attacks in the meantime. Prayer: Heavenly Father we never expect to be free of
thoughts, memories, horrors, nightmares but through Your grace and Armour we
have hope that You will patiently help us to renew our minds to line up with
Your perfect will. Help us over the really rough spots dear Lord. In Jesus'
name. Amen.
